Hi Uniface world
May we expect one day that Uniface can work with Hadoop databases ?

At this time it is not in our plans. Open to making it part of our plans, but we'd need a reason why to invest the developer time to build, deliver and maintain the driver. This is something that you should work with your account rep on, so they can help in bringing a case forward. If the reason is because you want an open source/low cost database, we're delivering a PostgreSQL database driver with Uniface 9.7 (end of Sept). We've had very positive feedback from the development group about it appearing to be quite fast. Not a scientific benchmark, but just an observation from running the tests and so forth.

DanielThank you for these infos , Adrian. Nothing really clear in our plans at this time, and we actually use Oracle. but Hadoop seems to be more and more used in case of very Big Databases, and in case of needs to improve time of response. For us, in the parts of genetic Data, the tables become bigger and bigger in terms of number of rows. The lab technics evolve very rapidly. new genotyping methods can generate thousands or millions of results by sample... and we have thousands of samples to study. I hope this topic (big database perf) will interest many Uniface customers in the near future. BR Daniel
