Bypass the overflow mechanism

Hi,

Is there a way to have an entity defined with a field C* or VC* or undefined length, without Uniface using the overflow mechanism to control this?

I want to be able to maintain a 'text' column from within my Uniface app, and also another non-Uniface app.

Hi,

The short answer is: no. In case you would like to avoid Overflow Tables then (currently) the only way to this is by using Segmented Fields (SC*).

And this will only work in case the database connector in question is supporting CLOBs. Please refer to the specific Database Connector Guide in the Uniface Library how Segmented Fields will be mapped in the database.
