Hi Unifacers,

we can't figure why in SOME installation we have hundreds and hundreds of userver.log files in customer servers, created every day

already tryed to add or remove putmesslogfile, add or remove ioprint, add ioprint=0.. if we specify a different putmesslogfile name in ASN we can see them correctly renamed but thet're still there.. if we don't specify a filename then we get those hundreds of userver (+ PID) .log

anyone else/idea?

thank you

Simone

I suspect it has to do with whether or not they get an error/warning running the app. What is in the contents of the server log files?

Hi Ian,

yes they are driver warnings and some "message" instruction that we put in the form

because we run some service via client/server, and in this way via urouter

this is and example of logfile

[startup] ======================================================================

Attenzione , le valute non corrispondono
I/O function: S, mode: 0, on file/table: UBICAZ2 index: 2 =
HY104 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Valore di precisione non valido.

first message is our own (message, not putmesss)

second message is a driver warning for a bad retrieve on an entity named UBICAZ2

as far as you know, is there a way to ignore this and do not create those files?

Yes, you set the $putmess_logifile (and $transcript_logfile) to NONE (or possibly “NONE”)

$putmess_logfile=NONE

Iain
