Hi,

Back in March last year, Mike gave the following answer to wishlist items progress.

Mike Taylor

Hi Stijn,

I regularly keep an eye on the wishlist for items we can pick up and fit into one of the teams here in the labs. Currently, I have four statuses available to me - New, Start Progress, Resolve Issue and Close Issue.

Issues stay on New until they are actively being worked on by development when their status changes to Start Progress. When an update is released their status will change to Resolve Issue. Wishes that are rejected will be set to Close Issue.

Over time we will be looking at the workflow to see if there is any refinement we can implement to make the progress clearer.

Kind regards,

Mike

There are 47 items in the wishlist, only one of which has had any progress marked, which was to say that it would not be done, and closed.

I do pay some limited attention to the wishlist, and record my votes for changes which would benefit my development, but I am wondering if this is entirely wasted effort.

What does everyone else think?

Hi Iain,

It is not a waste of time; we are working on things.

We have been tied up for quite some time on some necessary but hefty projects - some of which are now reaching completion. The Community Edition, for example, is due for release next week.

As we pick up new projects, we are looking at wishes to see what else we can include. We are currently working to update the version of CEF we include with Uniface and along with that we have examined the list for enhancements that could also be delivered.

A new creative day initiative has also been recently introduced within the labs where the developers run proof of concepts and create demos for possible enhancements. The wishlist has been a good source of inspiration for these days and has allowed us to have a much clearer idea of the effort involved to implement a number of the popular wishlist items.

Kind regards,

Mike

I know it's difficult to respond to single customer requests. Gods know I have enough outstanding tickets in our own wish list pile.

It would be good to see some of these things progressed, or discussed for refinement, just so the work you guys are putting in was a little more visible/relatable...

Regards,

Iain
