Hi,I couldn't find projection's segmentation anywhere in V_CATALOG.Is it missing, or am I missing something?

Is it possible to get any visual output from Vertica? For example with use of R graphics. I have not find anything about it in the documentation so far.

Hi, I want to ask you if the following scenario could work. I have a cluster of 3 nodes, I create database ONE and make a snapshot. Then I create database TWO on the same cluster, is it possible to make a restore into database TWO from the snapshot of database ONE? As far as I know the answer is no because restore operation requires same DB name (at least an empty db) as the snapshot source. In this case, is there a way to perform this operation? thanks, Pietro

i had an integer column in one table from which i need to populate the last date of that month into another tableLAST_DAY(TO_DATE(MONTH, 'MM'))this is how it is right now in oracle so is there any way to achieve this.

I am trying to extract a date from a string. On conversion, I am getting incorrect century for the year actual value expected value 123051  = 1951-12-30 Below is the query and result on date conversion: SELECT TO_DATE('123051','mmddyy'); 2051-12-30 Any year between 70 & 99 are auto converted to 20th century select to_date('030270','MMDDYY'); to_date ------------ 1970-03-02

Hi, I have a cluster with three nodes, the set of resource pool is default. When I test the performance, I meet a problem:   Some of the queries fail to finished, for example: "create table... as select * ..." is not executed, and the error hints resource pool general is insufficient... However, the usage of whole system's RAM is less than 50%, while the maxmemorysize of general resource pool is 95%. WHY?

Single node Vertica 6.1.2.0 x64 CE appears to be creating other Phantom nodes with copies of Vmart data base. Nodes have incremented ID numbers and Vmart copies have an associated warning that says this database is running an OLD copy of Vertica, Please update the software? Looks like we are getting two phantoms every 24 hours or so. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Can someone provide me Windows server Informatica plugin as the plugins available in myvertica CE ar

What would be the fastest way to copy a Vertica database (~2TB) to another Vertica database? There are additional columns on the destination database.

my vertica 6.0 community edition database shutdowns often, please help

I am trying to use the COPY command to load my exception and rejected data logs into tables. I would also liked to add some fixed and variable values to the copy such as the load run number. The code which loads the log file works:COPY DSDEPROD.DS_LOAD_REJECTED_DATA FROM '/home/dbadmin/load_home/220/copy_log/D0004001G0015_STAGE_rejected_data.log' DELIMITER '|' TRAILING NULLCOLS;What I'd like to do, as just one element of this, is load a number, e.g. 100, into a field called LOAD_RUN_NUM. This field isn't part of the log file which is being loaded.

I want to know resource pool memory allocation behaviour. Lets say I have three users A, Band C. I have created three user defined pools and allocated maxmemory 80% to each. Now what happens when users A and B are executing their task but C is idle. Does the memory allocated to C is reserved or it will be used by A and B if required. Is it a good approach to define separate pool for every users? If not, then how to overcome this? Suppose the query run by ETL sometimes fail with the error "Insufficient resource to execute on general pool". Next time they run, it gets executed. So I am bit surprised and confused.

For some reason TIMESTAMP WITH TIMEZONE is returining time in GMT even though default timezone is in pacific. Why would that be? [vertica@host ~]$ cat t show timezone; SELECT CASE WHEN LENGTH(TRIM('1372705611836')) > 10 then TIMESTAMP WITH TIMEZONE 'epoch' + cast ('1372705611836' AS BIGINT)/1000 * INTERVAL '1 second' ELSE null end from dual; SELECT CASE WHEN LENGTH(TRIM('1372705611836')) > 10 then TIMESTAMP 'epoch' + cast ('1372705611836' AS BIGINT)/1000 * INTERVAL '1 second' ELSE null end from dual; [vertica@host ~]$ vsql -d db -h host1 -U vertica -f t Password: name | setting ----------+------------ timezone | US/Pacific (1 row) case ---------------------------- 2013-07-01 12:06:51.836-07 (1 row) case ------------------------- 2013-07-01 19:06:51.836 (1 row) [vertica@host ~]$ date Mon Jul 1 16:16:21 PDT 2013

Trying to work out why queries are slow and I see for the same query run twice, one ran for 20 ms and the other for 1800 ms: select statement_id,operator_name,operator_id,counter_value,counter_name from v_monitor.execution_engine_profiles where transaction_id=49539595942919366 and statement_id IN (32,33) and counter_name ilike('%(us)%'); statement_id | operator_name | operator_id | counter_value | counter_name --------------+---------------+-------------+---------------+------------------------ 32 | Root | 0 | 16 | execution time (us) 32 | Root | 0 | 19 | clock time (us) 32 | Root | 0 | 5405 | input queue wait (us) 32 | NewEENode | 1 | 36 | execution time (us) 32 | NewEENode | 1 | 38 | clock time (us) 32 | NewEENode | 1 | 0 | output queue wai

Hi, Can you please provide me the link for ado.net 4.1 drivers?

I would like to create a Vertica loader connection in Informatica Powercenter (9.5.1), however, I do not see the option while navigating to Workflow Manager -> Connections -> Loader. There are options for other databases (TD, Oracle, Sybase, DB2) ... Are we missing any specific setting to allow a loader connection ?

i need to load data from a table to csv but with in a single command i need to acheive this . so please suggest me an way to do this using vsql command. Thanks

What's the syntax for creating a stored procedure with variables, temp table, while loop, etc.? Sample, how to change this SQL procedure to Vertica procedure? create procedure myprocedure (@id int) as select * from tblname where id = @id

Hi Danielle,I've installed the file, and been using Vertica with the license key.  Now my license key is expired and I want to switch to CE.  What do I need to do?Thanks,Ashley Note: This topic was created from a reply on the Installation File topic.

When I run a large query with multiple joins on TEMP tables, I get an error saying: "DDL statement interfered with query replan". It works well for relatively small tables. But it fails for a 100M rows table. I have no idea where to start looking. Any ideas?

I am using COPY command with data from STDIN and i have a table with newline character. The command takes the newline as the end of record and inserts the part of data from that column in another row which leads to error due to data type constraint violation. Though some suggest to replace newline character by space before running COPY command, I do not see it an optimal solution. Is there any other possible ways to overcome this issue??

Hi!recently I've started using the backup/restore utility by scheduling a daily snapshot with restorePointLimit = 2. Current database size is about 180 GB (computed by using "du -sh" on data directory)After going beyond the max number of snapshot stored ( 2 old , 1 actual) I constantly have 3 snapshots. In the original backupDirIf I use "du -sh" on backupDir I find 280GB ( I guess 180 for full backup and 50GB each for incremental backups). If I get into a snapshot directory and use "du -sh" I see 180GB (I don't get this)In another directoryI've copied those snapshots into another directory but there I see a total size of 434 GB. (why?)As a consequence of this question, could someone tell me of to compute the exact size of each snapshot?

The supported platform document mentions SuSE Linux Enterprise Server as a supported operating system. Is Open SuSE 10 supported as well? Thanks

Hello After strugling with poor Vertica performance our comapny has decided to upgrade the drives that Vertica resides on. We have installed fussion io cards that have about 500MB/s read and 200MB/s write. So the question is how do we move Vertica from the old drives to the new ones? Does it require uninstall and reinstall? Or can we just point Vertica to the new drives and make the data files live there? Thanks in advance.
