Hello all,
We're currently planning the next set of COBOL technical webinars. The last few have spent some time diving into the details of using the new IDEs - particularly relevant as we're seeing a lot of COBOL developers start using Visual Studio and Eclipse for the first time.
We're planning more of these introductory webinars, but what would you like to see us cover? If we did short sessions (say 20 - 30 minutes sessions with plenty of time for questions) that took a real deep-dive into a topic, what should we cover?
We have lots of ideas and plenty of very talented technicians to deliver them but I want to make sure we providing the information you want to hear.
Please leave a comment here with your requests.
Hi Mark,
a few ideas :
- what's new in cobol syntax (for RM, Acu, MF users )?
- performance tips
- how to use and configure the development hub
- examples explained in detail (Swing example, JSF example, cobol servlet example,...)
- how to mix native and managed code
Regards,
Renzo

Hi Mark,
Yep I agree with Renzo on the following :-
- what's new in cobol syntax (MF users)?
- performance tips
Also like the following :-
- show how to use/code all the Toolbox controls in Visual Cobol
- SQL tricks and tips
- how to convert C# or VB code into MF code
- how to successfully convert a VS2008 Cobol project into a VS2010 project because at the moment I cant.
- how to use Visual Cobol to create a web site
- and then how to use, configure and deploy Visual Cobol as a website
Kind regards
Neil.

Thanks for the suggestions Renzo & Neil. You'll be pleased to hear that the next webinar will be focussed on performance tips when building managed code COBOL applications presented by none other than Dr. Alex Turner:
