Uniface®

Hi All,  Has anyone out there interfaced between OPC-UA and Uniface? I have been approached by a customer this morning with a request to gather production data from their machines, and the two options are CSV and OPC-UA. Looking at the front page for OPC-UA, I think I'd prefer this, as it's more real time and less 1980s, but I am unclear on whether I can write something in COM to pass it to uniface, or need proprietary hardware attached to my server or what.  Regards,  Iain------------------------------Iain SharpHead of Technical ServicesPci Systems LtdSheffield GB------------------------------

I was wondering if anyone else had run into this before. If someone copies characters from a Word document and then pastes into an editbox, sometimes Uniface returns an error message or it will store it as some weird character. I have seen this countless times over the decades and have always just coded it using the $format and $replace in the formatFromDisplay trigger. Has anyone else run into the same type of thing and if so, did you come up with a way to convert any CP-1252 character to a UTF-8? Here's a quick example of how I currently resolve this on a case-by-case basis. These are the "smart" quotes that Word puts in automatically while you type. I discovered an issue when I deleted a field from an entity. After deleting it from our development IDE environment, I exported the entity into an xml file so that I could import it into our test IDE environment. When I imported it into this environment, the field is still present. I examined the xml file and the field isn't there so I would expect that when I import it into another environment, the field would not appear. Maybe importing does a "merge" rather than a "replace"? Good morning, Error 9020 - Data fetch error has been occurring at one of our clients since the client performed, completely independently, an Oracle version upgrade from Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit Production to Oracle Database 12c Standard Edition Release 12.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. A client 11.2, a U7 driver with Uniface 9.7 is used. The tables on which the error occurs have a field of type timestamp(6) in the key, and specifically the error occurs when microseconds are valued at zero. I would like to find, if possible, an application solution since telling the client to make changes to the db configuration is impossible.   Could you give me some suggestions? Hi Uniface, with Uniface 10.4.02 the timestamp fileds are back in the repository for all tables. This was the wish of the community users. After 2 years the new fields have still the value NULL. For me it looks like this should be a kind of "copy and paste" to fill this timestamp fields. If you habe 5 Procs changed in UPRC and export and import one of them from development to production, then the timestamps in ULIBPRC for development and production are identical. No chance to see that there are 4 more Procs that have to be transported from development to production. When will those fields be filled with life? Hello, We sometimes have problem with mouse pointer in Uniface application : the pointer is visible ouside the Uniface application but as soon as we move above the most externe component called by start-up-shell, it disappears. The only way to see it again is to close the runtime and re-open it. Have you ever seen that ? We have this problem in 9.6 and 10.4 on several windows platform. We have plently of entities that are using the field OF (it means Prodcut Order in french = Order de Fabrication). With version 5.6 and 5.7 of MySQL, this word was not reserved but in 8, it is. So when we Clear/Retrieve en entity with fielf OF, we get an error message :  You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OF from V_FABRICATION  where 1=0' at line 1 We thought that Uniface transactions with MySQL "protected" the name of fields and entities by sending : SELECT `OF`.`V_FABRICATION` from `V_FABRICATION`;  instead of SELECT OF.V_FABRICATION from V_FABRICATION;  Do you know if there is a way to set up Uniface so that all fields and entities to be border by ` (Alt+Gr+7) ? Hi We are migrating from Uniface 9 to Uniface 10.4.02. We have some web services that have worked fine in Uniface 9, but fail in Uniface 10. I wrote the original web services following a Uniface blog article some years ago, along the lines of "How to implement a web service with a Dynamic Server Page". The problem in Uniface 10 is that GET requests work fine, but POST requests fail before getting near the DSP. I eventually discovered that the POST request was being denied by the USYSHTTP component. A simple workaround for this was to simply convert my DSP to a USP, and then everything works fine. So my question is, is this expected behaviour in Uniface 10? Was I wrong to assume it would work in Uniface 9  (it did work)?  I'm happy to be told that POSTing to a DSP makes no sense, if that's the case. I'm just trying to understand. Thanks very much.
