In U9 there is the possibility to use $encode Function. However, in U8 this function is not available and I do not find any possibility to do this convertion. Sjaak   Because the U10Web license runs out by the end of this month: Will we get an automatic email with the link to the patch when it's ready?   Will there be a chance to experiment with an improved U10 development environment? Compared to U9, working with the actual one shows some pitfalls which reduces performace sharply.

Print files redirection issueAuthor: tanya@fenyx.nl (Kittycat) Dear All, I am working at a customers' site, where files are being created, printed and redirected via the assignmentfile settings. The problem we currently have is related to a combination of these three things. On Unix. Redirection normally works like a charm, except .. when creating files via e.g. the 'filedump' Proc statement ('Export Repository Objects' is also a good example). I know that this behavior has been true for many years. The error usually is something like "ERROR=-4;MNEM=;DESCRIPTION=Table or file open failure;COMPONENT=...". The underlying problem is a conflict between the directory-path as specified in the Proc statement and the redirection as specified in the assignmentfile. The workaround could be 'inclusion/exclusion' or 'explicit inclusion' in the assignmentfile.   And this is where the weirdness begins. Imagine the following situations:   Situation 1 [FILES] *.

I was looking forward to see and try the new IDE workbench When I try to use the IDE workbench from my PC , connected on this server by TSE , everything is Veeeeery slow. Version 8 Slower Than Version7Author: cdouglass@siriussoftware.com.au (Colin) Hello Everyone, I am currently converting our application from version 7 to version 8. To test the conversion I have set up a database that both systems access and then running the same components to test both the speed and accuracy of the v8 system. I have found that the v8 system can take up to 7 times longer to run the same component using the same data. The data is the same - because its the same database - so its not a bad or missing index. Its running on the same machine - so that's not it. I have tried the v8 system with both the U3.0 and U4.0 drivers with no difference The slowdown occurs in the proc_profiling counter DBMSTIME. V7 takes 12 (I assume MS) whilst V8 takes 80 for the same process. Windows 2003 Server V7 is 7.2.06 V8 is 8.4.05 Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Missing Global Actions menuAuthor: dave.manchester@nucor.com (dmanchester) Running Uniface 8.3.01.02(0827-1) in all three of our envrionments DEV,TEST, & Prod.  One of our IDF envrionments is missing the "Global Actions" menu. Normally the path is  "GO TO" menu  then -->"Administration" menu then --> "Global Actions" I suspect something is different in the urouter asn or ini files in that one envrionment. Copy will work, but the prompt does not change nor one can see, what is in focus for copying. By the way, error message 1089 is nice:      error: 1089 - Start-up Shell compilation stopped; ... It is my deepest hope, that the compilation sometimes stopped. I.e, UnifAce is a finite-state-machine :-) Ingo

Suppose I add the entity OrderLine. If I want to add a relationship between Orderline and a foreign entity, for example Article, then I have to move first to entity Article and then I can add the relationship. So for each relationship to a foreign entity, I have to move first to that foreign entity, before I can add that relationship. Why is it not possible to drag-and-drop an entity to the Many OR One entity?

Uniface 10 Web Edition - how to access the distribution Author: adrian.gosbell@synapse-i.jp (Adrian Gosbell) If you are an existing Uniface customer, the recommended (and quicker) way to get your hands on the product is via your account manager/sales rep, who will then arrange for the link to be made available. The registration page which is behind the banners on Uniface.com and Uniface.info is targeting new customers, if existing customers want to take this route to request Uniface 10, it will take longer to get access because it will still be referred to our account manager to manage.  If you do not know who your account manager is, then take the banner/registration page and we'll make the connections internally.

This can be installed on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. swinuf100101w64.zip Windows 64-bit native Development and Deployment. how to assign another project directory in parallell to the installed oneAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) As I have seen, the COMMON/ADM/dbms.asn has a hardcoded path with the project created on installation. This one is included in the UNIFACE/ADM/ide.asn which is part of the created shortcut.   Is there some hint how to set up a different project directory including which adm/asn has to be modified?

outline of the edited codeAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) I followed the tutorials and reached the state where I work with the Script Editor.   In U9, we have an outline of procedures of the edited code which can be used to jump to the entry definition.   Because it speeds up modifying code, I wonder if this could be added to the editors as well. At least some "GoTo" or "Find Definition" in the popup menu would be helpful.

experiences installing U10.1.02Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Thanks to the fast support from Rorije, Dirk.Jan, I just downloaded the new distribution and installed it: + Due to the shortened name of the .zip file, there was no problem with the path limited to 61 characters + The readme file uses the correct filename and reflect the differences between 64 and 32bit installation - Still, the default usernames for running userver and urouter services causes problems with existing U9 installations. (same name as in U9, but different password) May I recommend to modify the installation script to default usernames "userver10" and "urouter10" to avoid this conflict?   Will continue running the tutorial in the next couple of days (and compare it with doing the same job in u9).

resizing the IDEAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) it looks like the IDE always (in MAXIMIZE as well as in NORMAL) eats up the complete screen. is there a way to resize it so I see some other document (like the helpfile with the tutorial)  as well?   update: In the meantime I found a way to chance the mouse cursor to the resizing one   but is the initial size of the screen so wide that it occupies the whole screen ?
