[FILES] ABC.frm    ..\\frm_directory\\ABC_DE.frm The same was used to replace as an example the SQL editor with some customised version (see $uuu utilities) Replacement of sql/print statements This component is a better visualisation of the sql/print statement. Mapping as usys:usyssql sys_sql. The form offers a few useful functions like: save and open sql-commands from a file history command list (via filedump) multiple command within one transaction timing, etc... Can someone help me what I have to put in my ASN to get the same result under U10? TIA, Uli

Migrating to Uniface 10

Additional Menu - we want details on what you are using it for todayAuthor: adrian.gosbell@synapse-i.jp (Adrian Gosbell) There have been some discussions (buried in other threads) on the fact that Uniface 10 does not have the additional menu.  I've mentioned previously that we would look into this, and we are now starting this.  We want some details to know what you are using the additional menu for today. The implementation of menus, and therefore context is different between Uniface 9 and Uniface 10, so the more detail, the better. Those who gave me some details (and examples) at the UBG in Mannheim, you don't need to enter (unless you really want to). 

U10.3: embedded formpainter hard to use for large form layoutsAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) In U10.3 the formpainer is embedded into the IDE, but has only 40% of the screen. Even maximised we have the tree on the left using 20%. This makes me feel uncomfortable when I have to work with large forms, especially with drag&drop. In U10.2 the formpainter was an external window and you could switch between the IDE and the painter using ALT-TAB. Maximising the painter was (apart from the caption) really FULLSCREEN, so it was easy to drag&drop over the complete area. To serve both worlds (small forms and large forms) perhaps a? [SETTING] IDE_FORMPAINTER = SECONDARY

Migrating to Uniface 10 .2 or Uniface 10.3 Author: adrian.gosbell@synapse-i.jp (Adrian Gosbell) From a few recent discussions with customers, some guidelines on migrating to Uniface 10:   Uniface 10.2, delivered in Sept 2016, enables customers to migrate their applications from Uniface 9.6 or Uniface 9.7 to Uniface 10.  There is a supported migration path. All application features, deployment architectures and so forth are in the Uniface 10 runtime. All planned Uniface 10 currency is available.  Customers should note a few points about migrating to Uniface 10.2. The Uniface 10 repository is not finalised, it is planned to be completed and delivered in Uniface 10.3, when the workspace support functionality (key version control functionality), and all the relevant editors have been completed. U10f219 looks like edit/menu doesn't work as beforeAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) I have a (semi-hidden) form where I simulate keystrokes using the macro statement $prompt = CODE_BUFFER.<$entname> macro "^SELECT^TEXT^SAVE" ; saves text in clipboard, only in UNIFIELD at the end of the EXEC, I enter dialog mode with edit/menu where the menu trigger consists on a simple trigger menu macro "^ACCEPT" end   IIRC, this worked pretty well even under 10.2 (created it early last year), but it looks like one of the recent patches causes some strange behaviour: After this edit/menu, the form is visible now, but as soon as I enter for example the GOLD key (only this one, perhaps some other keys as well), I see in the debugger that the macro inside the menu trigger is executed and the form is left.   P.S. if you need a minimalistic testform for reproduction, send me an email, Uli

Test out of U10 component editor possible since F208Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) With patch F208, a hint in the Tutorial tutorialCompileTestForm_4CDB64256C6CC8E39931FC878DEC3BE4.html points to an important improvement for the experienced uniface codewriter used to the U9 comfort: It's possible now in U10 to test the component under edit straight from the IDF with the help of the ACTION menu ! Compared to the previous "start your process manually and retype the name of your ObjectUnderEdit", this will be seen as an improvement. But when we look at the convenience in U9, we may miss beside the "test" the "test with debug" option which is available in U9 UUEXTN23 as menu, accellerator CTRL+F8) and panel. As the new documentation _LOGICALS_IDE_testing_A011D3FF02E748F1965BB18402EC2801.html tells us in an example, we can modify the activation to include a /deb switch, but this is then used in ANY test. About the U10 DICTAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Adrian mentioned in: https://unifaceinfo.com/forum/uniface9/anyway-to-use-session-panels-to-trigger-startupshell-triggers/#p6052893 But it has always been our intention that we would document the Uniface 10 dictionary when complete (with Uniface 10.3). Even if we did not, we can’t stop access to those tables. So to put an end to any more fake news..   But as all of us know, since the very old days, variable length fields in the DICT are not stored in different database fields, but they are all mashed together and maybe scattered in the nice OVERFLOW tables as well. So individual information can not be reached so easyly. I already created my own DICT in Sep-2016 and found some incompatibilities with the U9 dict reports. Perhaps they are gone with the official 10.3 DICT, but it is worth to migrate a handful of DICT reports (especially those using COMMENT fields) and see if they still do their job.

While the Winword shows the text with linebreaks, these linebreaks are missing in the editbox. To have a common reference, just use the GOLD-W to open "SQL Edit" form and paste text into field "SQL command". This hasn't happened in 9.6.04+

Import to Uniface 10.02 - No messages for hours and still loadingAuthor: satheesh.balu.m@gmail.com (Satheesh) Hi, I'm importing the xml into Uniface 10 which was exported from Uniface 9.7 When I import the components or model or templates one by one, I get a message saying "Total number if records/rows imported : xxxx" But if I do the import of whole application in one xml, I can see the updates in log file. But at some point the updates are stopped and looks like the import process is hanging.. I killed UDE and checked the uform. The components are imported and it looks fine. So what happens during import? why there is no proper message at the end of the file? how do I know that the import was successful ? Thanks Satheesh

Since I can't post anything directly with that topic, I thought I would list it here. I would like to know if there was anything else missed in that patch distribution besides the wrong chm file. I downloaded it before the latest update. If it's just the chm file that was incorrect for that build.....I don't care about that. If there's more that was missed, I'll take the time to download and install it. Please advise.

U10.3: installing MetadictionaryAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) As U10.3 will be the first one which delivers a metadictionary, a lot of people want to have a straight look at it, but: /INS META will return an error: IDE command line switch /INS is not supported when $SEARCH_RESOURCES = RESOURCES_ONLY Before we start editing ASN files, it's much faster to use the "Import XML …" and we enter directly "D:\\USYS103\\uniface\\misc\\umeta.xml". WARNING: when we use the navigation in the "Open" window, we change the working directory as well. When we use relative paths this will no longer work. So better exit the IDF after the import is done
