Addition entries in Quick Navigation in Component EditorAuthor: sam_kester@kindermorgan.com (Samuel Kester) While i am an experienced user, this seems like a First Time User question... How do I increase the number of entries stored in Quick Navigation dropdown/combobox on the Component Editor window? I have two different environments (Dev and Test) and the Dev version only shows the last two objects entered in the combobox for quick navigation.  The Test environment displays several entries.  I unable to identify what makes the environments different and i cannot find any documentation that describes how to change the setting. OLEContainer fieldAuthor: ivanandradesantana@gmail.com (IvanSantana) Hi I have a type 'ROW DATA' screen field, and I am using this field with 'OLEContainer' widget and in the database this field is of type BLOB (oracle). I have a problem because this field use to attach documents with different types of extensions (JPG, TXT, PDF ...) in JTI 3 was correctly recorded all of these file types. Recently started using the JTI 4 (anywhare) and is only being recorded PDF type of document, the other is not being recorded, and that the application has not changed. Does anyone have any tips of what can be. PS: The version I'm using Uniface is 9.3.

Uniface JTi is becoming Uniface AnywhereAuthor: michael.taylor@uniface.com (Mike Taylor) As of version 4.8.2 Uniface JTi will be renamed to Uniface Anywhere. There are several reasons for this change: The ongoing process of re-branding the Uniface product line due to our acquisition by Marlin. The name, Uniface JTi, no longer matches the technology. When JTi was first released the product was a “JAVA Thin interface” however, over the intervening years, the underlying technology has been significantly updated and the name, Uniface JTi, is no longer relevant. Care has been taken during this process to allow our customers to easily upgrade to this new release with the inclusion of an automatic upgrade path from all JTi version 4 revisions. Uniface runtime versions should also continue to work as they did when using JTi.

Well, the import/export just handles data records and add them or update existing records. But there is a way using the CASE laod/unload function and appending to the unloaded CIF file the line: SC mymodel Loading this modified CIF into the target environment will remove all items from Model mymodel which are not mentioned in the CIF file See screencast 140102-dito-export-and-cif.zip on www.uli-merkel.de

I want to add another audit field into database tables but it will take some time to implement. If I had this new topic, I could check for the existence of this new field before trying to write to it. ****************************** Hi Larry, based on the JAVA reflection, there is a dITo concept to include repository infos like the db-fields of an entity into included procs. This goes for entities as well as components and have includes for the defines trigger like painted entities as well as routines like the dito_entinfo which will be best placed in the collection operations or the dito_componentinfo which may return even the component comment etc.

Microsoft update incompatibilitiesAuthor: jraymond@empowersis.com (jraymond) I just found that Uniface Anywhere 4.8.2.22382 is not compatible with Microsoft update KB3126593, KB3126587 and KB3122648. Uninstalling those patches allows Uniface Anywhere to start.

Anywhere sessionsAuthor: tomas.hogvag@abilita.fi (thogvag) Hi, I have a question regarding sessions in Uniface Anywhere. Under what circumstances does the client start a new session on the host? We are using the Windows client and have a startup shortcut "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Uniface\\Uniface Anywhere Client\\Client\\ua-client.exe" -h server -c -u username -p password - When I close the program window, it says the session and programs will remain active on the server - when I restart the connection from the same machine with the same startup Icon, a new session starts on the server This causes the printers to get a new name (a (2) added on the printer queue name) and they don't work from our application We have tried to get around this by limiting the sessions to 1 per user on the host and telling the customer not to close the program window instead use File - Sign out if they close the program window. What's puzzling is that this behaviour seems to be different on our

Uniface Anywhere 4.x end of supportAuthor: adrian.gosbell@synapse-i.jp (Adrian Gosbell) With the availability of Uniface Anywhere v5, we will maintain support for the 4.8.2 version for one year from the availability of v5.  We will no longer be taking any support calls for v4.8 from January 2017.  Customers are advised to move to the newer v5 release to ensure continuity of support, which is specifically important for Uniface Anywhere because of the need for MS Security updates.

The event viewer log does not give any clues except the error number: 3687  The server was patched today with the latest Microsoft updates, the following updates where installed: - KB3188128 - KB3138910 - KB3013538 - KB3076949 - KB3124280 - KB3138962 - KB3115858 - KB3109560 - KB3184943 - KB3175024 - KB3185319 - KB3178539 - KB3182373 - KB3185911 - KB3174644 - KB3184122 - KB3177186   Can there be some incompatibilities with any of these windows updates?   best regards Tomas

Uniface Anywhere support for Mac OS X El CapitanAuthor: nico.peereboom@uniface.com (Nico Peereboom) We recently found that the Uniface JTi and Uniface Anywhere Clients stop working when users upgrade to the most recent release of OS X El Capitan. We have expedited a fix for the issue and modified the client to store its shared libraries in the /usr/local/lib directory. A version 4.8 Uniface Anywhere client that supports OS X El Capitan is available for download from the downloads site here: https://download.uniface.com/downloads/UnifaceAnywhere/v4/ This client is compatible with Uniface Anywhere 4.8 and Uniface JTi 4.7 hosts. Instead of trying to get on the top 10 wishes next year? Yes, we can (and I have) homebrew it. But it's slower than something coded into the raw code would be. And on a list of thousands of records speed is of the essence. Please look at structs in Uniface 9.5. instead of handling this as a list, what about treating it just as a simple string: a nice 3GL replace anything after GOLD; or Start-of-string up to the = sign?
