Tree functionality as per IDFAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) In the IDF the tree widget that is used in the edit triggers of the application model appears to allow for stepped behaviour. I.e. there are ellipses (...) displayed, and when focus on the tree widget is pulled down below them more data is fetched. This would be very useful if the tree widget provided this functionality.

Redirection of compontes at runtimeAuthor: i2stiller@gmx.de (istiller) Mayby some has a clue: I want to "open" a component at runtime from a different directory the defined in the ASN file Assume, there are two directories X:\\ENV_1\\frm\\ X:\\ENV_2\\frm\\ and an ASN file with this line: [files] *.frm     X:\\ENV_1\\frm\\*.frm At runtime, I want to "open" the component (form)  "THECOMP" not in ENV_1 but in ENV_2. e.g.    ACTIVATE "ENV_2:THECOMP" With lines like this in ASN [files] *.frm     X:\\ENV_1\\frm\\*.frm ENV_2:*.frm     X:\\ENV_2\\frm\\*.frm the redirection will work, BUT ... But this will not work, as there is no valid signature for "ENV_2:THECOMP". Any other idea to solve such a "problem" ? And UAR is - for several reasons - not the solution :-)   Ingo

$paintedfieldpropertiesAuthor: wva@gypsilon.de (gypsilon) actual Version 9.3: Another item for the wishlist, because it will get more and more important: $paintedfieldproperties doesn't work: (a) within Grids (b) for Labels (c) doesn't work, if a splitbar is painted in the form. ---> The usability is very restricted, and in most of my projects not really useable. There could be one or two workarounds for specific challenges, but that doesn't make life easy. My wish to the lab: make it work! ---> I did not test the $paintedfieldproperties for RTL-Applications yet. A very big question: Does it work like expected? Managment with multi languagesAuthor: antoine.picaud@free.fr (apicaud) Currently (Uniface 9.3), when you change the $language in the application, the current component is not refresed with the $text associated on all fields displayed. I would like a function in the 4GL to made a refresh on all labels displayed of the component associated with the current language.

Color managementAuthor: wva@gypsilon.de (gypsilon) uniface does not fully support the windows color scheme The functions/properties  "curocc video" and "active_field" work exclusive in the "uniface color scheme". It is not yet possible to use the windows color scheme for those funktions (in the asn-File as well as a function). It would help us to use the Windows-color-Mechanism also for curocc video and active field. Wolfgang

ORACLE VARCHAR2 2001 - 4000 Author: stefan.hirsch@uniface.com (StefanH-US) THERE IS CURRENTLY NO UNIFACE PACKING CODE WHICH MAPS TO VARCHAR2 FIELDS IN ORACLE WHICH ARE GREATER THAN 2000 CHARACTERS. ORACLE NOW HAS A MAXIMUM OF 4000 INSTEAD OF 2000 IN VARCHAR2 FIELDS, SO UNIFACE SHOULD HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAP TO THIS. Current mapping: C256-C2000 = Varchar2; C2001-Cn = Long in U3.x and U4.x, CLOB in U6.x

Is it possible to update the MusicShop Sample with the newly defined logic. client side syntax checking: no more java appletAuthor: laurent.izac@compuware.com (cwfr-lizac) the mechanism introduced with U7 for fields syntax checking in the browser before submition involves some javascript wrapping calls to a java applet actually doing the job. This code written in Java could as well be rewritten in plain javascript (the language is more than capable enough for that kind of code). That would ease deployment (no more java plugin) and reduce browser configuration and interoperability problems.

For example, WAMP Server is excellent and requires nearly nill config to install, set up websites and get running. It's one executable that handles everything.

It seems to be a common behavior in V5.1 at this moment (try to google it).So we used v5.0 instead which does well. There are some issues with the Table creation Utility “ICOMP”. ----8< ---- $99 = 400 ; Create Table Utility $98 = vTable $96 = 0 $97 = "" perform "ICOMP" vScript = $97 ----8<---- The Tool doesn’t put the Fieldnames in Backtics (` = Backtic). This causes trouble while running into MySQL reserved words while creating the Database. GRID Widget enhancementAuthor: jtsagara@logisoft.gr (jtsagara) These days I started a project with uniface 9.6 in Greece, I see many enhancements in the ui (popup forms, buttons, tab ex, etc.) but again my disappointment was related to the grid widget. Really I cannot understand why Compuware leave this vital widget for client/server applications so behind in development. Come on guys, all the other tools have grids that rocks and only uniface is so behind in this area. It is not so difficult to adjust a third party powerful grid widget in the code of uniface. For example in this version Compuware introduced the pop form (at last I can obsolete the c++ code that mimics this functionality!) I was very pleased to see my calendar at last at the right position but then I tried the grid with popup form… big disappointment not even this simple thing is implemented. With my trivial knowledge of c++ I started to build a function that positions the pop up window at the “bottom_l

Revamp of the UDE interfaceAuthor: jason_zuvela@yahoo.com (jasonzuvela) I've had a look at the Uniface 8.4 and 9.2 development environments and have to say I was somewhat surprised at how old school they looked and how un-streamlined they felt. I wish that the UDE interface was revamped to bring it up to speed with the look, feel and easibility of modern day development programs/environments. (eg. undo/redo controls for the form paint tableau!)

Maybe even include a flag on include procs to disable validatation for that particular proc. I think it would be a good feature to be able to include segments of code, for inclusion into other proc. e.g. define a code snippet of 'standardvariables' in library LIB: numeric vNumeric string vString Then, in a trigger, you would have entry SomeEntry variables #include LIB:standardvariables boolean vBoolean endvariables Any thoughts? Occurence handlesAuthor: None (None) Hi, I have a problem returning an occurence handle as OUT parameter in a operation In the operation the $occhandle function returns a correct value and it is saved in a param declared as "handle P_HANDLE :OUT".  Unfortunately, the calling component receive a NULL value. The calling component use a variable declared as handle Someone has a good idea to resolve this problem? Thanks in advance
