I have a field that I am trying to apply the formatting of @*(-)@* but it gets ignored because of the following error: 1032 Entry format for field %%$sub ignored because maximum length > 63.

Why do not create an operation and entry table (uxoper and uxentry like uxregs...) for components ? when we are fixing our application's  release, restauring previous version , so we could better manage the source code and when different developper are working onto the same component for different raisons. regards

Ability to update Actor, Role and Unit via APIAuthor: paul.chapelhow@b-plan.com (chapelhow) It would be nice if Actors, Roles and Units could be created/modified via the API. Not all customers have LDAP and the DSML import is a bit clunky. We maintain a lot of users in our Uniface application and being able to add them into UnifaceFlow without using the ProcessConsole would be a great enhancement. Obvously there would be limitations on modification and delete but the ability to add would be the most important to us as this gives us one point of entry. Paul Chapelhow

Reporting on UnifaceFlowAuthor: paul.chapelhow@b-plan.com (chapelhow) Some of our customers like to use their 3rd party reporting tools on UnifaceFlow. However they have a problem with segmented filelds in the UnifaceFlow tables. We have had requests to get particular data that is stored in these fields, in particular the values of Parameters that are passed in/out of the tasks (URELDATA field of UWPRCI). These paramters usually contain customer specific data which can help them identify tasks. As I see it there are 2 options to satisfy this request: 1.  Do not use segmented fields in runtime data. 2. Publish the schema model so that we are able to access the data required before it gets into the segmented fields, though with only the 4 current runtime tables I am not sure this is a valid solution?. Wish List problem? Author: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) I have recently logged a wish list issue about tooltip/mouseover on the tree widget. When I go into this wish, I can't see the description, there's a description field, but it's blank. If I go into someone else's wish, the form displayed is different, and the description is there. Can someone tell me if my wish list description (not the use case, I can see that) is displayed? And if so, can I let the web admin know that it's difficult to check on your own wishes if the descriptions vanish. Thanks Iain

Number of hits for progress barAuthor: cdouglass@siriussoftware.com.au (Colin) Hi, The progress bar is a great idea however to use it you have to lose the advantage of a stepped hitlist. This is ok for a few hundred or even a thousand records but no good if there are a *LOT* of records. My wish is that uniface provide something like the equivalent of the sql 'select count(*)'. It could use the same profiles that the normal retrieve does but not return any records, just the count that match the selections. That count can then be used as the base for calculating the progress so far. Thanks, Colin Douglass

auto complete for database fieldsAuthor: None (None) In the web environment there is very helpfull feature called autocomplete. Several customers asked for this feature in our Uniface application. Functionality: starting fill in text in an editbox (database field) there is shown an additional trop downbox. This box offers all field values of the database starting with the text that is typed in the editbox. There should be the posibility to set additional filters.

Themes for Forms ComponentsAuthor: jason_zuvela@yahoo.com (jasonzuvela) I think it would be nice and could add a touch of class if you could apply predefined visual themes to your Forms components. That way it would be easy to change a dull standard grey application into Vista styled application fairly easily. I could also give rise to some very nice professional templates...

fileboxAuthor: stefan.hirsch@uniface.com (StefanH-US) Windows has different implementations of the file selection box. Uniface calls  the one used in Notepad or Wordpad, but it has limited functionality. For example, View selections (List, Detail, Tile, Icons) are not remembered.  Word and Excel use a different filebox that remembers the View (List , Detail) and has additional functionality such as previewing the file content and viewing file properties. It would be nice if Uniface would allow a choice which one to use. This should be possible by adding a switch to the filebox statement. Larry Atkins - Proware

update progress bar during execution of entitycopy command Author: szhu@commandalkon.com (szhucommandalkon) we use entitycopy to archive customer database (as an application module). The table size varies from table to table and from customer to customer. The biggest table we are going to do is 150 GB in size. The whole database copy process takes 40 hours. That 150 GB table accounts for half of the time. Users sometimes may want to kill the application simply because the progress bar does not move and they thought the app is dead. It would be of great help if Uniface has separete work thread to update the progressbar during execution of entitycopy.

However, if this server changes, do I have to regenerate all of the signatures in order to use this new server? If it is a matter of regenerating, would it be possible to add a feature to allow the base URL to be specified somewhere, and then simply change this and recompile the signatures in order to make the changes? Please note, that Windows CE is not the same as Windows Mobile. This new driver should enable: 1) direct reference to standard actions (GET, POST, PUT and DELETE) with standard URI to directly implement CRUD actions. 2) indirect reference to standard actions (GET, POST, PUT and DELETE) with standard URI via standard Uniface operations like rest_read(), rest_write(), rest_update(), rest_delete() to enable developer to customize behaviour in response to CRUD actions.

Database driver settings per PATHAuthor: tneeskens@itblockz.nl (Theo Neeskens) Currently when I have to access two Oracle databases (or two Sybase ect), I have to use the same settings for both. But often these are existing databases, so I have to use different settings for both. But I cannot configure Uniface to do that. So my wish is to have all database settings in the ASN file on the path-level.

Database PaginationAuthor: palgam0@hotmail.com (George Mockford) For sometime now I've been experimenting with data pagination using the database and perhaps more specifically modification of the Uniface 'where' clause. Some of you have contributed to this so it's not entirely new but with new stored procedure support in 9.5 for MSSQL I thought I'd share with you what I have done already plus a version specific for MSSQL that calls a stored procedure to 'page' through the database. Arguably the concepts shown here should be a part of or within our drivers but perhaps if there is sufficient support maybe???? Even if you do not like the concept hopefully the code examples will provide some real examples of how this works but you can be the judge. I've included in the zip more details of what this contains and how it works. Feedback as always is welcome. -George

print as pdfAuthor: None (None) PDF has been established as a document standard.   Here Uniface should provide an easy way to generate a document in PDF format. An ideal way would be a flag "/pdf" for the print statement.   This could save a lot of work and trouble with installing an external pdf generating tool at every workplace.   

Our customers use $TIMEOUT to close idle sessions. One of them wants to extend the timeout to at least four hours.
