We will provide currency support for Windows XP with Uniface 9.6, and we will continue to provide support with maintenance delivered in patches and service packs on supported Uniface versions. Uniface 9.6.05 Patch X501A available for HPK, HPM, LIB, LU6, RSD, SO9, W32 and W64Author: Daniel IseliUniface 9.6.05 Patch X501 has been rereleased as X501A and is available on the FTP-Server (https://download.uniface.com/downloads/Uniface/patches/9605/) for HPK, HPM, LIB, LU6, RSD, SO9, W32 and W64.The list of included bug fixes can be found in the ReadMe of the Patch (e.g. https://download.uniface.com/downloads/Uniface/patches/9605/w32/w32x501A.txt). Compared to the original version of the patch, X501A does not include a fix for BUG 30450 ("Problems with large entities in Oracle with unicode_smp option"). And at this moment we plan to deliver a solution for the mentioned bug with the patch X502 (currently scheduled for July 25). Any previous version of patch X501 should be replaced by version X501A. An installation on top of the previous version will fully replace it.

Patch E121, planned for November, will provide Uniface 9.5 support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. We are not planning to provide support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server2012 R2 on unsupported Uniface versions.

Compuware Uniface Technical Alert: Patches E114 and X103 withdrawnAuthor: Daniel Iseli(This alert will also be published on Frontline shortly)Patches E114 and X103 withdrawnThe fix for bug 29952, "Discarding all outer hits can cause retrieving all records for the inner entity", has introduced a side effect that could have a serious impact on runtime Uniface applications.Description of the introduced problem: A many entity of a one to many relationship is painted as the outer entity. When the first record of the outer entity is discarded and no fields of the outer entity are used in proc, Uniface goes through the hitlist but does not fetch the occurrences. Because this problem happens without any warning or error, there is a chance that application users will work on a wrong data set which can have serious consequences.As of now, the patches E114 and X103 are no longer available for download. If I have a 10 user system, with 10 active clients (running the main app) can a web service query the userver/urouter or does it require another client licence to run? If so, for how long is the client licence in use? If I have the WASV userver process on 10min idle, is it timed out for that entire length of time, or is there a 'hidden' client process somewhere?

COM interface and large string/stream data. Author: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) I have a com interface dll, within this I have some data (a pdf file) held in System.IO.Stream format, I can convert this to a string using Streamreader.readtoend(); I have declared this string as a parameter to the function, (ref string outputdata) In uniface have declared the parameter Outputdata mapped to outputdata, type string, implementation VT_BSTR, this only seems to return approx 1000 bytes. Leading to an invalid pdf file. If I change the type to raw, implementation V_ARRAY I get lots more data, but it seems to have {! scattered across it. Leading to an invalid pdf file. Anyone know how to sensibly return large raw data strings from c# to uniface? regards, Iain
