Hello

We have a strange issue on our VDIs with the Git connector

We are still struggling to get the installation right. When we try to perform eg a git clone we ar getting a connection problem.

We have setup the server using https, everything we do from the VDI

  • the zmfrest application
  • the ZMF Explorer

all works fine, except the git commands

I changed the server back to http and adapted the zowe config json to use http and then the git commands worked fine

However other colleagues installed GIT_CLI and GitBash and then the git connector commands using https worked fine

Can anybody shed some light on this, what am I missing on the pre requisites of the Git connector, hereby some (probably stupid) questions

  • does the Git connector need Git to be installed on the VDI
  • if the ZMF Explorer uses https, why would the Git connector fail

Any feedback is welcome

Best regards

Johan

Hi Johan,

1. Yes, you need to install git on the client machine before you can use the ZMF-git connector software.
2. It sounds like you are probably having a problem with management of the AT-TLS certificates, or something in that area. I will get back to you shortly from the case that you have opened to suggest ways to progress that investigation.

Best regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the feedback, as stated in the case, our new VDIs contain the necessary git components and these VDIs have no issue with https
As stated in there if at any point we have http/https issues, we’ll touch base again

Best regards

Johan
