10.5.3 Highlights include:

General Enhancements

Security upgrades

·       We've upgraded Apache Tomcat in the Modern Experience Web Engine, MX & Automation Hub setups, and Docker images. This strengthens protection against known vulnerabilities and helps maintain compliance with the latest security standards.

Rocket API

Java 21 Support

·       You can now choose between Java 17 and Java 21 when installing core components like the Discovery recorder, MX&A Hub, API engine, MX&A gateway. All Docker images would be defaulting to Java 21. This flexibility ensures compatibility with modern Java environments and improves system performance and longevity

Docker Health checks

·       Docker deployments for the Discovery recorder, API Engine, and MX&A Gateway now support built-in health checks. These checks enhance container reliability by ensuring smooth and stable startups, reducing the risk of downtime or failed deployments.

MX & Automation Hub

Improved Authentication

·       The file URL used for the file-based authenticator has improved validation, reducing the risk of misconfiguration and improving the overall security and reliability.

Smoother UI with React framework

·       The Services and Connectors tabs in the API Library have been rebuilt using the React framework. This delivers a faster, more responsive, and modern user experience for interacting with your APIs.

Rocket Modern Experience (Web Edition)

AI integration framework in MX Web

·       You can now create AI chatbot interfaces directly within your MX Web application to enable use cases like intelligent search across numerous documents in your business workflows. A ready-to-use example-built on Material Design and connected to the OpenAI API-is included and can be easily adapted for other LLM or chatbot providers, giving you a flexible starting point for AI-driven user experiences.

Rocket MultiValue modernization with MX Web

·       A new emulator type for MV systems now supports the 'Input Inhibit' indicator in MV datastreams, providing information about keyboard state when the MV system allows it. This improves synchronization in scripts, making integrations with Rocket MultiValue systems more reliable and enabling easier modernization of these applications.

Default VT Key Sequences

·       Default escape sequences have been defined for PageUp, PageDown, CursorHome, and CursorEnd keys in VT emulators. This ensures consistent behavior between the green screen application and the modernized MX Web application.

MX Web Engine enhancements

·       Improved Interaction Control with container lists: A new property-Prevent row selection-lets you control how users interact with container lists. This will prevent clicks on the object from selecting the row or focusing on the container list, and will set focus only on the widget (or toggle it when using a checkbox or radio button), improving precision in complex UI designs.

·       Expanded JavaScript Capabilities: The MX Web engine now supports streaming in the JavaScript fetch module and adds support for Blob, File, and FileReader in the File API. This enables more advanced and efficient handling of file uploads, downloads, and streaming data within your web apps.

·       Simplified Event Handling: Event variables LISTBOXCLICKEDROW and EVENTORIGIN_ROW are now automatically set for both OIS and widget events. This makes event-driven development more straightforward and reduces the need for manual scripting.

MX and Automation workbench enhancements

·       Faster Performance: OIS indexer results are now cached, reducing processing time and improving responsiveness.

·       Stronger Security: The Apache XML Graphics FOP library has been upgraded to address a potential security vulnerability, helping keep your environment secure.

·       More Reliable Connections: The MX Web client now automatically retries websocket connections when a disconnect occurs, and will now automatically attempt to reconnect and restore the connection at configurable intervals ensuring smoother recovery and a better user experience.

Compatibility with the IBM i V7R6 sign-on screen

·       The default sign-on screen with the Rocket logo is now supported for IBM i systems running OS version 7.6 with Additional Factor enabled. This ensures compatibility and a seamless authentication experience on the latest IBM i configurations.

Rocket Modern Experience (Desktop Edition)

Kerberos configuration in the MX Desktop Java Client

·       You can now override the default Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) configuration by specifying a custom jaas.config file when launching the MX Desktop Java Client. This provides greater flexibility for organizations integrating with Kerberos-based authentication environments.

Enhanced Diagnostic Logging for Data Access

·       We've added more detailed diagnostic logging to the Data Access Server, MX Desktop Windows client, and engine components. This improves visibility into data access issues and helps IT teams troubleshoot faster and more effectively.
