We use mvBase extensively, along with Accuterm (GUI). We need to re-platform to another mv product as mvBase is EOL. We were all ready to go down the OpenQM  route, then Rocket aquirred the product and all development seems to have stopped! ( We have been deliberating the move for some time.) We have  looked at jBase and D3.  Rocket are pushing us down the D3 the path. I don't see many posts about D3 improvements, it all appears to be Universe or Unidata.

So my question is, what would be your platform of choice if you were moving away from your current mv version, or are you happy with your current platform for the foreseeable future (5+ years).

Many thanks.

Hi Richard, how are you?

My advice would be to take the opportunity of the platform migration to modernize as well, transforming your old MV application into an API-driven application with a cutting-edge web front end, to stay competitive for 5+ years.

As for the platform, I can recommend Universe. We've been using it since a long time. It is very robust and scalable, and is fully supported by Rocket MVIS, what is crucial to API and web development.

We have developed a low-code/no-code modernization framework for MV applications, the Aleph MV Framework, that I believe you saw in a demo in its early days some time ago. It has evolved a lot since then, and is have been playing a crucial role in the modernization of our large MV application. This not only preserves the investment in our main asset, but also positions it for future growth and innovation.

I woud be happy to discuss how I can assist you with this challenge. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested.

  Regards,

  Enrique

We use D3 exclusively on Linux and have done so for over 30 years.  Together with Accuterm we have found it to be stable and reliable and provides for all of our needs.   We have roughly 100 or so customer sites who are small retail hardware stores and lumber yards (some are technically challenged) for which D3 does an excellent job.  The minimal care and feeding required allows us to concentrate on application features for our customers.
