I tried with your sample files but currently I can not see the problem on my local environment. Could you please do some more testing to isolate the problem?

3/ I do not edit IN_SPO.txt (I rename it .txt to upload it into the forum) ; yes, it's a folder marked 'rocket-mvbasic'
4/ I tryto explain how I reproduct
I edit the file, and add at line 11 EQU SPO$NEWDOC TO 9 ;* ADD A DOC TO SPO DRIVE
and ask to format document ...
the vscode extension log show :
