We’re excited to share the latest update to the U2 Common Clients version 5.4.3. This release brings meaningful upgrades across security, performance, reliability, and developer experience, making it easier than ever to build and maintain applications on the U2 platform.

Whether you’re working with UOJ, JDBC, ODBC, or administrative utilities, this release includes improvements that help your applications run more smoothly.

Let’s take a tour of what’s new!

Stronger Security & Future‑Ready Platform Updates

Security and compatibility remain at the core of our ongoing investment in U2 Common Clients. With version 5.4.3, we’ve modernized two key components under the hood:

  • OpenSSL 3.5 Now Included - We’ve upgraded the embedded OpenSSL library to version 3.5, bringing enhanced security features, broader cryptographic support, and a more future‑proof foundation for secure client‑server communication.
  • JDK Upgrade to Version 17 - To keep pace with the modern Java ecosystem, the JDBC and UniObjects for Java clients are now built with JDK 17. This update delivers performance improvements, better tooling compatibility, and long‑term Java support, all without changing how you build your applications.

Better Exception Transparency in JDBC

Troubleshooting is now significantly easier. JDBC exceptions fully preserve their underlying causes, giving you the complete exception chain, including “caused by” details, in stack traces.

Customizable Date Formats

A new connection property “ConvertDateFormat” lets you control how the JDBC driver formats dates. This is especially useful for integrations like SAP Business Objects where date formats must match specific expectations.

Versioned Driver File Names

Installers now include versioned filenames such as
asjava_5.4.3.1000.zip and uni-jdbc-5.4.3.1000.jar so you can easily verify which version is installed.

OpenJDK Support

The Certificate Management Tool documentation has been updated detailing support for OpenJDK 1.8 and later.

Reliability Fixes That Matter

This release comes packed with a series of impactful reliability enhancements that strengthen overall client stability. We’ve resolved issues that previously caused silent write failures, improved how the clients handle connection shutdown scenarios, and enhanced configuration accuracy in key areas like logging. Plus, the ODBC installation process is now cleaner and more dependable. Together, these improvements deliver a smoother, more predictable experience across U2 Common Clients.

Ready to Upgrade?

There’s never been a better time to move to U2 Common Clients 5.4.3. This release strengthens the foundation of the platform with modernized components, clearer diagnostics, and fixes that directly improve day‑to‑day productivity. Whether you’re supporting mission‑critical systems or building new integrations, 5.4.3 helps ensure your client stack stays secure, reliable, and future‑ready.

Our latest certification update now brings full support for Windows Server 2025, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019 and Windows 11 across UniVerse 14.2.1, 14.1.1, 12.2.1, 11.4.1 and UniData 8.3.2, 8.3.1. This expanded certification ensures our customers can run their environments on the newest Microsoft platforms with confidence, performance, and long‑term reliability.
