HI all,
I have just recently upgraded from Accuterm 7 to the latest version of Accuterm 8.1.1.1134.
I am currently having an issue if I attempt to run a second instance of Accuterm, the first instance of Accuterm is displayed.
I have 2 Accuterm sessions saved on my desktop, the first open fine. When the second session is selected the first session displays.
In settings I have checked the option to "open sessions in a new window instead of a new tab".
any suggestions would be gratefully received.
thanks George.
Hi George,
It isn't just 8.1 ... it started with the move to 8.0. Essentially, you cannot start a second session from a desktop icon.
What you CAN do is start a second session from the File menu. So, choose File > Open from the menu, select your ATSP or ATLP file, and that will start a new session in a new Window.
You can also right-click on the tab of your current session, and choose Clone if you want a session to the same server - although this will open as a new tab in the same window.
Note that you can "tear off" a tab from a window to create a new window - so even if you start with multiple tabs in a window, you can create multiple windows from this.
Hope that helps.
Brian

Hi George -
The "open sessions in new window" should open each of your shortcuts in a new AccuTerm window, instead of a new tab in the current AccuTerm window. I just tested this an it works as expected. What kind of file is your desktop shortcut pointing to? AccuTerm scripts (.atsc) do not open in a new window (actually they don't do anything except activate the current AccuTerm window if AccuTerm is running), by design as a security measure. AccuTerm sessions (.atsp) should open in new windows.
Thanks, Pete

I need to add a wrinkle to this scenario - we are running a login script for the user, when they click on the shortcut.
We do this to log them into the OS layer using a service accout / password combo, then we authenticate their app sessions at the application layer.
In this scenario, using the 'clone' option, or having them Open the same session definition does not work. That will not execute the login script.

Hi Baker,
We use a script to start a second session which (a) clones the existing session; and then (b) calls the login script. Script is attached (just remove the '.txt' extension).
Cheers,
