MVIS and Python3

The installation of MVIS on Linux requires Python3 (and, what is more, a more recent version of Python3 than is included with UV).

My question is this: does MVIS require Python for anything other than the installation?

To the best of my knowledge, Python is only used for the installation of MVIS.  Once installed everything is controlled via the Administration web service.

Thanks Steve, that's what I suspected.

This, however, makes no sense to me at all: many Linux systems do not have Python3 pre-installed but do have ample scripting support (including Python2, Perl, and just plain old Bash) built in. That means that to install MVIS I need to install 150MB of additional software that is not required by MVIS itself, but is required only for the installer.
