Good day,

We use two Universe servers.
On the one server the list of data resources works like expected and we can configure MVIS data resources.
On the other server (on ALL accounts) we receive a list of data resources that looks as follows :

When we try and select any of these the following error occurs :

Has anyone ever encountered this ?
Any ideas what would cause this ?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated !

Jaco,

For the most part they look like standard UniVerse files that come with UniVerse. I would login to each account and try to list the file. The MD file is the Pick version of the VOC file. I would start there. Once you are able to list the file, MVIS should be able to access it. I am just guessing here, but could the home account of UniVerse or the security permission have been changed?

Hi Jaco,
Couple of questions for you:
- Are the versions of UniVerse the same on both servers?
- Have you run UPDATE.ACCOUNT for the account that is failing?

It looks like it is failing because there are characters before the file name.
I'm looking to see how the list of files is built and will get back to you when I have more info.
Is there a reason you didn't create a support case for this?
Thanks
Stuart

Hi Jaco,
You can use the following program to test the data being returned by *XTOOLSUB on both of your servers:

*
* a program to test XTOOLSUB
*
params = ""
outData=""
errorCode=0
* to initialize, call this once
CALL *XTOOLSUB(0,params, outData, errorCode)
GOSUB CheckError
* Open &PH&
OPEN '&PH&' TO F.PH ELSE STOP 201,'&PH&'
* get all file names
params=""
CALL *XTOOLSUB(3, "", outData, errorCode)
GOSUB CheckError
IF errorCode = 0 OR errorCode = "X0" THEN
PRINT "File list :":
PRINT outData
PRINT ''
PRINT 'File List Written to &PH& XTOOL_OUT'
WRITE outData ON F.PH,'XTOOL_OUT'
END
STOP
CheckError:
IF errorCode <> 0 THEN
   HUSH OFF
   PRINT "Error=":errorCode
   PRINT "Error Message=":outData
END
RETURN
END

Please check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specials_(Unicode_block)
What is the encoding for both the Universe servers?

You may want to try setting the encoding to ISO-8859-1  for the problematic server.
