Big news for MVIS users! The latest release, MVIS 2.2.0, is packed with customer-driven enhancements designed to make the system more flexible, secure, and high-performing.

One of the standout updates is the Flexible Deployment Model, allowing customers to choose between local storage and MV storage for metadata-giving them the power to tailor their infrastructure to their needs. Security gets a major boost with Enhanced Audit Logs, making system activity tracking more detailed and robust.

Performance monitoring is now sharper than ever, thanks to Temporality Support for Open Telemetry Metrics, ensuring a clearer view of how systems behave over time. The update also introduces Improved Open Telemetry Functionality, letting users control the export of traces and metrics to reduce unnecessary traffic.

For logging and troubleshooting, MVIS 2.2.0 brings a JSON Log Emission Option for seamless integration with modern monitoring tools, Improved Error Codes for more precise issue resolution, and Additional Histogram Metrics with Configurable Buckets for deeper performance insights.

System optimization is a priority, and the release includes a JVM and Performance Tuning Guide to help users fine-tune their setup. Request Tracing Control gives customers better oversight of system requests, while Operation Name and Path Bindings streamline interactions with REST subroutines.

Infrastructure improvements include URL Endpoint Logging, upgraded Jetty version 12, and MVIS support for AIX 7.3. To top it all off, reliability takes a leap forward with Azure Service Bus Reliability Enhancements, ensuring uninterrupted functionality even when service disruptions occur.

With these updates, MVIS continues to evolve, offering users a more adaptable, efficient, and powerful experience. It's a milestone worth celebrating!

I see all the changes outlined in the release notes. However, our biggest gripe with MVIS is the poor user interface, especially regarding the dynamic arrays.

Has anything been done to:

  • allow fields to be moved up or down?
  • Allow a field to be inserted?
  • Allow the display to be sorted by Location or Name?
  • Allow fields to be populated via Excel import?

When dealing with a large dynamic array (example 40 fields), one has to copy and paste the information into Excel to be able to sort things for easy reading.  I am attaching a portion of one of our Dynamic arrays to illustrate.

I have mentioned these many times in the past (ask Stuart Mackenzie), but unless I missed it, Rocket has yet to provide these extremely helpful/user-friendly  functions.

We are using v1.3.4_63.

Hi Nelson,

We are in the process of implementing a new UI. In fact, a lot of the groundwork for this has already been implemented in the current 2.2.0 release, you just can't see it yet. You will start to see elements of the new UI in the October release. I was actually testing pieces of it earlier this week. The development pieces, including dynamic arrays will be available in 2026.

Sorry you have to wait a bit longer but I think people will like it and it's a huge change from the current UI.
