We’re excited to announce that Rocket® DBTools 4.6.2 is now available!
Released on May 20, 2026, this update brings key improvements across XAdmin, EDA Schema Manager, Web Services, and Security, with a focus on reliability, visibility, and modern operations.
What’s new in this release?
We’re thrilled to bring OpenTelemetry to UniData with the release of version 8.4.1!
XAdmin now includes a built‑in interface to configure OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and view OTEL logs, making observability easier and more accessible than ever. In addition, UniData 8.4.1 upgrades OpenSSL to version 3.5, delivering the latest security fixes and cryptographic enhancements to ensure continued compliance with current security standards - all configurable directly in XAdmin.
OTEL in UniData 8.4.1 is only the start, with plenty of other great highlights in this release:
Improved Administration & Reliability
- The Data Encryption view now opens correctly for UniData connections, including scenarios where the master encryption key has not yet been created, replacing previous RPC failures with clear guidance.
- RPC errors previously seen when closing Performance Monitor views or starting replication monitoring on UniData systems have been resolved.
- The UniVerse errlog display has been fixed so administrators now see the complete log.
Expanded File & Log Management
- A new RESIZE command option for UniData files is available alongside memresize, providing a safer and more reliable alternative with clear warnings about memresize limitations.
- trunclog support has been added for both UniData and UniVerse, allowing administrators to truncate log files directly from XAdmin.
- UniData account creation issues have been resolved, ensuring accurate paths and consistent dialogs.
Replication & Configuration Improvements
- XAdmin no longer adds unsupported FIELD_LEVEL parameters when creating file‑level replication groups, preventing invalid replication configurations.
- The FAIL_ACTION replication tuneable is now visible and configurable via a drop‑down in both repsys and repconfig views.
- Connection security is improved with full support for new SSL_OPTIONS settings in UniData 8.3.
Audit Logging & Encryption
- XAdmin now displays dataChange audit configuration parameters for both UniVerse and UniData directly in the UI.
- New and enhanced audit logging parameters can now be viewed and edited without manual configuration file changes.
- Automatic Data Encryption (ADE) integrity checks and repair functionality are now available through the XAdmin interface.
EDA Schema Manager Improvements
- File conversion now works correctly when connected to SQL Server or MySQL datasources against UniVerse 14.1.1.
- Numeric field mappings for MySQL have been corrected, ensuring schema validation succeeds by mapping numeric types correctly to INT.
Web Services Fixes
- Deployed SOAP and REST servers now correctly use the database credentials specified during deployment, rather than falling back to credentials from generated XML files.
UDBT 4.6.2 marks a significant step forward, strengthening operational safety through improved replication, logging, and encryption, while also enhancing administrative efficiency with better visibility and usability in XAdmin.
