I know this has been around for a while but we are trying to hook this up now… We are on Unidata 8.2. We’ve been told we need Unidata 8.3 to use VS with Rocket. I am looking to validate that information, or hear that someone on 8.2 does have it working.

If we can’t use this - is there another full screen editor we can use on the unidata side?

Thank you for the information and your time.

There are several U2 EclipseIDE based full screen editors. One from Rocket Software and another from a U2 VAR.

Is the rocket one in the DBTools package or is this something different?

Tommy Petrocelli

Hey there,

MV Basic for VS Code works for UniData 8.2.4. Some of the features (e.g., debugger) are limited, but it does work. During the Rocket Symposium, Christian Bristow gave a recorded demo on how to install it.

Basic Developer Toolkit (BDT) is another IDE that can be found on Rocket’s website: https://www.rocketsoftware.com/en-us/products/multivalue/u2-dbtools. I’ve been using this one for years. Fairly simple setup and is the most stable IDE I’ve come across.

Other Notables:

  • wED (AccuTerm editor)
  • XLr8 by U2 Logic (requires a paid license, though): https://www.u2logic.com/tools.html
  • MultiValue PROC for VS Code (syntax highlighter for Proc, not UniBasic)
