The compile suddenly brings strange errors. First compile brings:  * File i-o error: program.idy then the 2nd compile brings: program.OBJ : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __mFerr3 Does anyone have an idea? Regrds, Georg

I have been asked a couple of times as to where to find files that are created by the ZMF Explorer.  This is a standard VSCode extension and as such all files are under VSCode control and located in VSCode managed folders. A key file is settings.json - this is edited directing with VSCode when you go into Settings - Extension - then select the extension in question and is shared by all installed extensions.   However, if you need to find the file for some other reason, it can be found in your <homedir>. On Windows this would be  <homedir>/AppData/Roaming/Code/user/settings.json If you experience a problem when running the ZMF Explorer, you may be asked to turn DEBUG logging on. This is done again via Settings- Extension- ZMF Explorer and scroll down to the logging option.  Logging should generally be left on the default of INFO when not specifically asked to turn on debug due to the amount of debug data logged.    The first thing to do is

I am trying to install microfocus visual cobol version 7. on New Dell Laptop. when executing the installer program opens and closes without any error. Status: DeliveredWe are receiving 'SER1005E CMN Invalid TCP/IP protocol header received:' and 'SER8104E CMN Unidentifiable message received, header is' errors in our Changeman started task due to port scans. However, after discussed with Micro Focus we learned that these messages will not cause any problems and those are working as designed. Since, these messages are not causing any problems, is it possible for an enhancement to represent these messages as ‘Warning’ instead of ‘Error’?#Notification

Hello community, I am facing this problem and hope anybody could help me. My site is running Unidata over Windows Server and MVIS to provide webservices.The problem is when the webservice receive extended characters, for example: á,é,ñ,Ñ and so on, the webservice subroutine uses UDO object to get the data from JSON parameter and write it to the file, but in this case of special characters, the data saved is completely different with other characters. And it is worse when that same data is pulled out by other webservices. All third-party providers that my site interact with indicate that the application cannot handle UTF-8 encoding properly.I will appreciate any help you could provide me.Thanks.

Problem: How to create files that use UTF-8 or Unicode (UTF-16) character encodings? The strings are initially ANSI based so need to be converted to UTF-8 and UTF-16. Resolution: Attached is an example that shows how you can do this. Converting to Unicode uses standard COBOL syntax for dealing with Unicode strings. UTF-8 is slightly more complex. The Windows API that performs the conversion to UTF-8 is "WideCharToMultiByte". This however requires a Unicode input string to perform the conversion on. A 2 stage conversion approach is required to first convert to Unicode and then to UTF-8 using "WideCharToMultiByte". Attachments: utf8.zip Old KB# 1309

For product releases and updates released in June or July 2022, some older versions of Windows may report that signatures contained in executable files (.EXE, .DLL, .MSI, etc.) cannot be verified. When doing batch freeze in ZMF4ECL 8.2 Patch 6 and selecting 'Show user variables' the 'NEXT' button is not enabled. The User Variable panel is therefore never displayed resulting in the user variables not being set properly (via HLLX) in the submitted JCL. I have a small unit test which connects to a Mainframe using Rumba.  When I select the test and do a ReSharper "Run Unit Test", it fails with: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154) The stack trace does not allow us to investigate much further than the level of InitializeComponent for the Rumba control. There is a call to EndInit() and then:     ParentInternal.CreateControl(fIgnoreVisible: true); which fails... However, when using the VS "Run Test", it runs successfully. Any ideas? Thanks, Larry#Rumba

The ChangeMan ZMF 8.2 Patch 3 & Patch 4 Readme files included the following type of information in the Installation section of the documents: "Format of Distributed Libraries Planned for ChangeMan ZMF Version 9 Currently all distributed libraries are shipped in PDS format. This is still true in 8.2 Patch 4. However, in order to support modern language features and executable module formats, from Version 9 all distributed libraries will be shipped in PDSE format. We are including this information in this document to provide customers with the maximum time to plan for any changes they may need to make to cater for this forthcoming change." After the changes to the forthcoming ChangeMan ZMF releases that are documented here we can confirm that this change to the format of the distributed libraries will now be included in the ChangeMan ZMF Version 8.3 release. After installing as root, are there any options for running Unidata as aless-privileged service account? I'm working with a customer that forsecurity reasons does not want the main unidata processes running as root,and they're pointing out that Oracle, Apache HTTP, Postgres and many otherserver-side services have the ability to run under non-user accounts.I don't think it's possible, and haven't seen anything in the docs (thoughthere is a hint that it's possible for UV, running as a user uvadm,https://rbc.rocketsoftware.com/downloads/readme/UV-11.3.3.pdf?16:05)Thanks for any experiences, both positive and negative!Ian
