Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to make the "Universe Telnet Service" that runs on our IBS Application server, to only use 128bitblock Ciphers, and disable the other lower 64bit block ciphers? The service listens on port 992. The problem is that our Qualys VUN scanning tool is picking up that port 992 is a security risk againstBirthday attacks against TLS ciphers with 64bit block size vulnerability (Sweet32) and goes on to say"Disable and stop using DES, 3DES, IDEA or RC2 ciphers.  We believe that the "Universe Telnet Service" uses OpenSSL that offers out these lower level ciphers, but we have no idea how to to best address this sothat the only ciphers used are 128-bit or higher ciphers. We are waiting on our third party support to get back to us as they have opened a ticket today. Current version of OpenSSL is OpenSSL 1.0.2m-fips  2 Nov 2017, though "Programs and Features" is saying OpenSSL 1.1.1k (64-bit) was installed on March 2021. Universe is 12.1.1 is installed. I have a program that creates a Wintegrate pop-up window. Within this window, among other things, I place a picture in a specific location. Currently, the x/y coordinates used to place the picture are based solely on the window it’s self.Problem: the picture seems to move around if I resize and/or move the window. Or worse, if I move the program to a different computer.The solution that I am looking for, is a way to determine exactly what are the x/y coordinates of the upper/left corner of the window as compared to the full monitor screen. This would allow me to calculate exactly where I want to place the picture, within the window, no matter the size or location of said window on the monitor.

Currently our ACUCOBOL (compiler v.10.3.1) print modules use WIN$PRINT to create PDF files using locally installed PDFCreator (on the user’s Windows machine) and -P SPOOLER.  We are looking for an alternate solution which will enable us to use a PDF printer installed on the Linux server instead.  All the options we’ve explored so far, incl. cupspdf; C$PDF and -P PDF involve extensive code changes or loss of predefined formatting.  Is there a solution available which will allow us to do the conversion with minimal code impact?

Hi everyone, I’m attempting to install the UniVerse Personal Edition version 14.1.1 on MacOS Tahoe 26.1 on an M1 Macbook. I’m following Rocket’s official PDF (see attachment) on how to do this via a Docker container and using the supporting files from their Github: RocketSoftware/multivalue-containers Because I’m on Apple Silicon, I adjusted the Dockerfile as follows:Replaced the original FROM to force AMD64 emulation since I’m on ARM:FROM --platform=linux/amd64 rockylinux/rockylinux:latestI also added this to fix a permission error that occurs.RUN chmod +x /usr/local/bin/*uv.sh Now, I consistently hit a segmentation fault in the installer during the init_uvsm step. Hi,The version of cURL in my z/OS system is: curl 7.52.1 (i370-ibm-openedition)curl-config --ca returns: /u/mvsbuild/py361z/python36/etc/ssl/cacert.pem But I can't find that directory. Instead I found cacert.pem is under /u/python/python36/etc/ssl. I’ve recently been made aware of an issue with logical printers in Uniface 10.4 on Windows 11 workstations. If you have 2 or more logical printers defined, all logical printers in the list will appear to be mapped to the first physical printer in the list. If you click on Change, the printer definition appears wrong, but if you click on the chevron to see what physical printer is mapped, it will be correct -- HOWEVER, any specific settings that were stored originally when setting up the printer will NOT be correct.Support has suggested to manage this directly through proc code. Has anyone run into this issue and if so, what was the solution or workaround?TIA

Is there a log of phantom processes and pids anywhere?I have a job scheduler that runs as a phantom and executes jobs from a table at certain times.I’m having an issue in my scheduler where it appears to run the same task multiple timeson a random basis (ie some days it is just fine, other days  I will see that same job runs multiple times instead of once).   I haven’t been able to figure it out and I was hoping that there was a log somewhere that I could look atthat showed what processes have been started as phantoms.On Universe 11.3 

Hello. I have a COBOL application composed of several projects (n COBOL-type Projects, one COPY-type project, and one COPY DCLGEN-type project), and I wonder if it is technically possible to execute any program from any project with a single existing batch region defined in Enterprise Developer 11 for Eclipse running on a Windows 11 PRO operating system. Good morning.I'd like someone to explain how the cobutf8 utility works to see if we can use it in our company.We work with Microfocus Visual COBOL 8.0 for Eclipse (Unix/Linux).The database is Informix, and a few years ago we migrated to the UTF-8 locale.The OS has LANG=es_ES.UTF-8.However, some integrations with other companies require files with a fixed position structure. We've found that with UTF-8 encoding, there's a left shift for each UTF-8 character written. Currently, we've added calls to iconv before each move to the file variable, but that's very cumbersome when the file has many fields.

We would like to understand whether Uniface 10.4 provides official support for Microsoft SQL Server 2025, or if support is currently limited to earlier SQL Server versions as defined in the Platform Availability Matrix. Our application is currently running on Uniface 10.4 with Microsoft SQL Server 2022, and we are planning an upgrade to SQL Server 2025. The following code crashes when it is executed within Visual Studio 2022: CALL GetCurrentDirectory  USING BY VALUE     PC-PATH-LENGTHBY REFERENCE CURRENT-PC-DIRECTORYRETURNING iRetEND-CALL.it fails with the error message: 173     Called program file not found in drive/directory: GetCurrentDirectoryAI updated the PATH variable to include the folders where the COBOL runtime exists. So why does it not find the Windows API function? Is this a limitation of the PE version or some other property to build has not been set correctly? Any help is appreciated. Kevin

I just installed Rocket Software Enterprise Developer Version 11 and need to obtain the default password for the SYSAD user. Following the suggestion on the ESCWA login screen:"The SYSAD user has been created with a generated password.To determine the password, run:"mfsecretsadmin read microfocus/temp/admin"" I ran the command, but the password it returned is invalid.
