All, We have a program that is doing a range of calculations that result in large integers. In some cases we are seeing overflow when negative numbers are being converted to their 2 complement e.g. when assigning it to a value in an array.  This is effectively what is happening (not the actual code and that's deep inside a complex routine). A = -1528596274 B<C,D> += A B<C,D> shows as 2766371022 If we take the assignment out of that program and put just the code into a standalone routine with the same numbers it works without modifying the number. Other calculations using that number also work. If we pass the value and array into a noddy three line subroutine to do the assignment, the value changes. Any attempt to manipulate the number e.g. ABS or even testing it (if A < 0) also coerces it to the 2s complement.  If we turn it into a string, the same. E = A : '' E is 2766... If we use st

Hi guys,We have a situation where we want to have multiple Unidata accounts on a single Windows server but the accounts may related to customer sites in different time zones.The front end will be a browser based web application.If we use DATE() and TIME() that will pick up the date and time from the server which may not match the date/time relating to the location of the customer's site.We have thought about 1. Calling an API to get the site "actual" time but that must rely on both an internet connection and the API always being available. 2. Maintaining a "time offset" setting but that's difficult with daylight saving as that can kick in on different dates each year and sometimes isn't required at all. 3. User the date/time from the users local PC but what if the user is travelling or simply has their date/time set incorrectly.Has anyone come up with a good solution to this?Many thank

Hello!! When I run the visual cobol program through batch file, I'm getting below error message and don't know how to add the mentioned error file. Load error : file 'DB2INT'error code: 173, pc=0, call=1, seg=0173 Called program file not found in drive/directory I can see the 'DB2INT.obj' and 'DB2INT.idy' files in the program main folder. Hello, a while ago we found out, that IBM Ported Tools, we’re talking of perl and php mainly, went out of service last month. So we decided to migrate to the versions offered here. The only disadvantage using these tools is, that they are not SMP/E installed, as the IBM versions are. So we decided to create a set of procedures to make these tools SMP/E installable, and finally we succeed. At this time we’re able to install the following Tools via SMP/E, some more will follow: bash curl gzip mc (Midnight Commander) perl php webalizer I write this in order to ask, if there is any interest to know more about the used method, how to make such products SMP/E installable. I finished my contract last week, so back on the market. I landed an interview with a "recognizable company" and went straight to the final round. During the interview one of the panel asked me, "How do you read a file without a select list?" I paused for a moment wondering why anyone would need to do that?  I thought for a moment and came to the conclusion, it may be possible, but I cannot think of how it could be done. I responded to him, "In the twenty years I've worked in multivalue, I have never seen any code that would do that. But I don't ever recall ever having the need". Is it possible?  Does anyone have an example?Added:  This person meant without using SELECT anywhere. At TCL or internally in a program. Hi, in our application I need to implement reading xml from the folder and then I need to check if the xml is correct. I found the xmlToStruct command. Do you have any example how to use it? First of all what is the best way to read xml and then how the xmltostruct should be used with the xsd schema which is local file in my folder.  My xml files will be some where between 1MB to 30MB. Are there any other better (more efficient) ways how to do it?  Is it possible to use 3rd party libraries (C, C++, C#, Java) for this goal? If so do you have experience which one is ok and how it can be used in Uniface? I have created a batch file in the project main folder and added the executable file name at the end. Hi, i would like to query a bunch of tables to see if the indexes have been built I tried LIST-INDEX <FILENAME>.  But it seems to require a <return> if the page is too long. Hello!! I'm new to Visual Cobol for Visual Studio 2022 and trying to upgrade the existing Cobol program which was developed on Net Express long years back to Visual Cobol 9.0. I just imported the program into Visual Studio 2022 and trying to build it. I would like to see compile listing (Expanded copybook, subroutine, Include statements, Embedded SQLs) of each COBOL program as .lis (extension) or .lst similar in Visual Cobol 9.0 and above VS 2022. Normally, Micro Focus under Linux/Unix net Express environment generate the .lis file upon successful compilation.

In the process of testing one of our Uniface apps under upgraded version 10.4, I received the following error message: Unable to load useqread.dll; error 193 ('System or I/O error 193 occurred.') The dll is listed in the [USER_3GL] section of the assignment file and the app works fine in version 10.3. Any idea as to what might be happening? What is the best way to open a website from a unface desktop frm ...  My method is to create a batch file(1.bat) with the text start https:\\mysite.com, and then activate an OS service which runs the created batch file. Im thinking there may be a better method. The problem I am having is that the website url has % in it, and the os service seems to be removing the percents in the case of opening a web site(not in the case of a dos command)... ex: https:\\mysite.com?myvar=%1% So, my problem is how to open a website via a uniface desktop application that contains %'s------------------------------Osman Shariff------------------------------

I have a program coded for reading a record from a MS SQL Server database Table.  When I step through the code in debug mode it lands on the EXEC SQL statement and when I step again it lands outside of the EXEC SQL/END-EXEC structure. It looks as though none of the statements inside this structure are executing.  Is this normal?  If it is, is there a way to step through this structure to observe the back end process?  I'm not returning the record from my SQL  query and need to figure out why. My database and table are able to display in the 'Server Explorer' of Visual Studio. The database object is not displayed in the Solution Explorer. I'm using a ADO.NET DSN and it's connected to my MS SQL Server database successfully. I'm using GEN-SQLCA directive in the ESQL Preprocessor-OPENESQL. Here is my code: IDENTIFICATION DIVISION.
