Got unhandled exception ('Cobol runtime code :253') occurred in [20452] cblxecwm.exe. Need solution.

I thought maybe it would be something that would help with MVBasic but it seems to be broken and won't install. I get an error that it cant open ".vscode/extensions/rocketsoftwarebeta.rocket-copilot-10.4.0/walkthroughs/getting-started/Git/start-rocket-CoPilot-for-git.md". I checked for the file and it's not there. There a similar one named "start-rocket-devops-for-git.md".  The extension says it's beta but it looks pretty alpha to me. Shouldn't someone at least try it before putting it in the VS code marketplace? It looks bad. Hi All,  Has anyone out there interfaced between OPC-UA and Uniface? I'm not sure I know enough to know if this is a dumb question or not, but... Has anyone attempted to make the MV Basic for VS Code plugin function with an Eclipse (the ERP system built on top of Universe, not the IDE)? Would that require customization to work with "Eclipse syntax"? It's my understanding that Eclipse code is "pre-compiled" into Universe code, and so I'm wondering what would be needed to fix syntax highlighting, debugging, etc.------------------------------Kyle GagnetRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------

I was wondering if anyone else had run into this before. If someone copies characters from a Word document and then pastes into an editbox, sometimes Uniface returns an error message or it will store it as some weird character. I have seen this countless times over the decades and have always just coded it using the $format and $replace in the formatFromDisplay trigger. Has anyone else run into the same type of thing and if so, did you come up with a way to convert any CP-1252 character to a UTF-8? Here's a quick example of how I currently resolve this on a case-by-case basis. These are the "smart" quotes that Word puts in automatically while you type. i have FCService running ok on our almalinux 9.4 server, but i notice its binding to 0.0.0.0 which i'm sure is ideal when your D3 & Flashconnect are running on separate hardware. in our case they're on the same physical box, so i'd prefer if I could get FCService to bind to 127.0.0.1 instead. (like TLLicMgr does) is this possible? can i use something like a bind: command in flashconnect.conf? or maybe the port statement, instead of port 1505 would port 127.0.0.1:1505 work? thanks in advance!

Hi, we have found a different behavior between a program compiled with VC 3.0 and  VC 8.0 In both compilations whe have set default_cancel_mode=0 (Physical cancels: any program canceled during run-time will be freed from memory, making more memory available.) in the cobconfig file but, In VC 3.0 we can access the addresses of a variable of a program that has been canceled, but in VC 8.0 we cannot. How is this possible? Was there a bug in version 3? According to the documentation the default_cancel_mode appears in Visual COBOL 2.3 release Is there a compiler directive in VC 8.0 that allows us to access the addresses of a variable of  a program that has been canceled as in VC 3.0, but that frees the memory?

Status: Waiting for VotesRight clicking an application under Default Application Folder, gives you the option of creating a new package. You can also add the application to it to Favorites. Right clicking an application that has been added to favorites, does not give the same options. You cannot create a package, which makes this view a bit limited. One of our users gets this message: Welcome to the Rocket U2 UniVerse Telnet Server.Enter user name: hrs\\BOBEnter password:This directory is not set up for uniVerse.Would you like to set it up (Y/N)? Our other users can login to the database just fine. All users should be connecting to the single Universe directory we have on the server. What directory is this BOB user trying to connect to? My legacy code generates a lot of long reports targeted at printers that used mono-spaced fonts to get all the column alignments right. Usually this was Courier. I would rather print to PDF as most of these reports are reviewed and disposed of almost immediately. I am moving the system to Windows and have found that I can print to PDF using the built in "Microsoft Print to PDF" driver. The problem is that they print with a proportional font and the columns don't line up and a few characters on a few lines go off the right side of the page. I would guess the font is Arial. Is there a config file that I can edit/create to change this font? I know there are 3rd party tools that bring in a whole slew of additional features, but that would require me to review and edit dozens of reports. Thanks, Brian

I have some very vague memory that there's an attribute in a compiled item that indicates whether or not it's been FlashBASIC compiled or not.  Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was, and it's not obvious. :) Here's an example that I know for sure does not use FlashBASIC: Here's an example of a program that's compile with FlashBASIC: Is attribute 12 being > 0 indicate a FlashBASIC compiled program?  The reason I'm chasing this down is that I'm migrating from D3 v9.0.0 to v10.3.4 and I've got a lot of stuff that has to be recompiled due to the FlashBASIC changes, but I've got even more that can't be FlashBASIC compiled.  (does it need to be "normal" compiled due to the version change?) I have developed a website using WEBSVC and port 8180.  After much trial and error, I have it working and continue to add to the site.  Now I am trying to get SSL (https) working.  Apache is serving my login page (does not use WEBSVC and port 8180).  When the user logs in, now WEBSVC comes into action.  Since WEBSVC is running, it starts a phantom that servers 8180.  From the $COMO file, this is what I am getting when trying to connect. $COMO PH173_050924_0953174 line(s)----: P0001: COMO file activated to PH173_050924_0953170002: Phantom 173 started at 09:53:17  05 SEP 20240003: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal server error 1 [7013, 2]0004: Phantom 173 terminated at 09:53:47  5 SEP 2024Bottom at line 4 This is how I am initially starting the WEBSVC phantom. Hi all,  I have been given the task of allowing users to auto login to a PICK database through Accuterm. I have been given a config ".atsc" file that when double-clicked starts Accuterm and has a tel-net connection ready to be logged into. I have recorded a Macro that allows the user to press Ctrl + F1 which then logs the user in. What needs to happen is when the config file named patmore.atsc is double clicked, the macro runs automatically after Accuterm starts. I need instructions for migrating a Core built in 32 bits to a new architecture in 64 bits. On the current platform there is interaction between Cobol, Dialog System and CCI. We have new Suse 15 servers at 64 bits, we installed Cobol Server Version 10 at 64 bits, we installed a machine for Visual Cobol 10 development at 64 bits, the interaction with MFSD was activated through a graphical interface (browser) achieving the CCI connection, the CCI architecture and the existing Core were passed, it was compiled to 64 bits and the functionality of this implementation is being tested. The indication for which I request support is in reference to the CCI data or tables. The current error is related to the tables that are created and in use at 32 bits. These cannot be accessed by programs compiled to 64 bits. Should I upgrade these tables from the native 32-bit environment to deploy them in the new 64-bit environment? Or if I copy them from the old 32-bit environment to the new 64-bit environm

I discovered an issue when I deleted a field from an entity. After deleting it from our development IDE environment, I exported the entity into an xml file so that I could import it into our test IDE environment. When I imported it into this environment, the field is still present. I examined the xml file and the field isn't there so I would expect that when I import it into another environment, the field would not appear. Maybe importing does a "merge" rather than a "replace"? I am moving a bunch of programs from Unix to Windows and have found that there is a 130 character limit for the using keyword vs 250 on Unix machines. That is randomly breaking things. Is there some workaround for this? Brian

Many years ago we changed our web-based software to support prompts, menu items, and help to support multiple languages. We did that by using a number for the prompt like 2300 was "Customer Name". Depending on the language you would go to the matching language file to translate the 2300 number to "Nombre cliente" for Spanish and "Nom du client" in French for example. In the 18 years we have demoed this to United States-based companies nobody expressed any interest until last week. This  client would like to have code files like  Code A1 equals Apple or Pomme in Spanish Code Z1 equals Avacado or Avocat in Spanish Our Universe database has a file called Fruits in this example. So my questions for those who have done this are: Do you add a field for every language? Do you add a multivalue field for every language? Do you change the value in the file to a number and translate it to a language field? Do you add a file called Fruit_ES for Spanish? Depending on the method chosen, how does

I'm in the process of setting up a "golden master"[*] in order to migrate six D3 v9.0 Linux hosts to v10.3.4. I wanted to get the base D3 install completed before turning the VM over to my infrastructure team for duplication. I'm installing on RHEL 9 (9.4 specifically) and noticed that nothing has been done regarding systemd during the install process, even though there's some passing acknowledgement in the docs that xinetd is deprecated.  Nothing for telnet, nothing for MVSP. I didn't know what to do regarding the missing systemd service scripts for telnet, (the word "systemd" doesn't even occur in the 10.3.4 installation guide.  That's problematic.), I figured I'd at least see if I could get MVSP set up - maybe that creates the systemd services. Here is a record sample: The TESTING column is a multi-valued list, and the pipes represent actual SVMs for readability. I'm looking for a function that will return an associated boolean list indicating whether or not either '1400' or '9101' exists in TESTING, so... In this sample, if one is present so is the other, but that's not always the case. So a 1 should be returned if either exists in what is actually a subvalued list. EDIT 1: A subroutine would make this very easy, I know, but I don't have time for the administrative overhead that comes with developing/delivering one to PROD, so I need this to be "idescriptor" language. Also, there will be subsequent processing, based on a SUM() of the Y/N list for each record, which will be compared to DCOUNT(TESTING,@VM). EDIT 2: I think I found a solution. I didn't realize I could use the INDEX function on lists. Though it will require another step or 2 to get the final result, I think it will work.
