I got a new Windows 11 workstation, and moved my AcuCobol software over and reinstalled it.   It’s been running fine for the past 3 weeks.  But now when I try to compile with ccbl32.exe, I get an error:

“D:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\extend 10.4.1\AcuGT\bin\zlib.dll is not designed to run on Windows ….”

With the help of Windows COPilot, I tried all sorts of test and security changes, but it still does not work.  Apparently  zlib.dll is on the list of DLLs with known vulnerabilities.

Is there updated 10.4.1 that have been properly signed, or do I have to go to Extend 10.5 ?

Update to my problem ****

I created a folder on my D drive    “D;|AcuGT (x86)” and moved everything from “D:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\extend 10.4.1\AcuGT” to there.   Adjusted my compile .bat files and shortcut paths, and now everything works.  So apparently the Windows 11 security apps that blocks DLL because they are not properly Digitally Signed only test files that are in D:\Program Files (x86)\  or  D:\Program Files\

Hi Larry,

We are constantly monitoring security vulnerabilities in our third-party vendors (such as zlib). But getting the latest security fixes for these requires moving to the latest version of ACUCOBOL-GT. While we still support version 10.4.1, we only patching for bugs, not for security updates.

I’m glad you were able to resolve your problem by working around the Microsoft restriction. But eventually you will need to upgrade your version of ACUCOBOL-GT.
