AcuCobol file status 98 index file corrupted

Hi I'm getting File status 98, Index file corrupted for my acucobol application. I tried Vutil rebuild option and also Vutil rebuild -k 0 filename option. But no luck. Can you please let me know what could be the problem? Thanks

Please elaborate on "but no luck". Does the rebuild complete and does it report any messages?

Yes, Command Vutil -rebuild -k 0 file1 ran successfully, with replace existing file. But Still getting Index file corrupted error with File status 98.

Its quite likely that the file you are rebuilding and the file your program is reading are not the same.

Rename the rebuilt file to some other name and you would then expect the program to report an error 35.

File name is correct Peter as same file name showing in the error message as well

When this has happened to me, the program has been reading \\Directory1\\FileName but I have been rebuilding \\OtherDirectory\\Filename. Could that be happening here?

Hi Peter I didnt look into the program as I couldnt find program location..Tried with Vutil rebuild option on file, but didnt workout

Is it possible that the rebuild process works fine, but then the file gets corrupted again as soon as you launch the runtime a second time?

To test the former, please run vutil -info once the rebuild process is done.
