We have an ACUGT GUI screen that can display document content it should present an embedded window displaying either a single document or in this case a selection of pdfs.

Instead we get the error

The Client is testing Edge as a replacement  for IE9 as it is no longer supported.

Would you expect that a cobol upgrade is required or is it more likely a switch to Chrome or running Edge in a compatability mode?

Thanks

Jim

I meant to mention that when the user clicks on that link the document/pages resolve okay!

The browser control we provide in Version 9 through current versions is a base Microsoft browser control, this base browser control is what Microsoft used to provide Internet Explorer. This base control cannot be used to use Edge or Chrome. In the next release (10.5.0) we will provide a new browser control web-browser2. This control uses a Microsoft set of libraries called WebView2 - WebView2 is Chromium based and is what the latest version of Edge uses.

Thanks for the quick response, can you advise when 10.5 will be available?

I believe there will be a beta in August/Sept and GA late 2022

Is there a known work around in the meantime?

If I followed this post correctly, you r application continues to work. Microsoft has ended support for IE, however the internals for supporting IE are still on most machines. If your client has a machine without the internals that support IE, then there is no work-around (other than installing IE on their machines).

There is one other option. If your application can run using AcuToWeb, then ATW when dealing with the browser control uses an iframe to open whatever the default browser is on the users machine.
