Hi,

Many of our Vision files are year based (i.e. with the year as part of the filename).

Our customers who use a Windows server currently need to change all their queries each year to point to the latest files.
On *nix systems we create symbolic links and (I assume) SAMBA is smart enough to return the actual file to AcuODBC and not the "link" file.

So is it a bug or an enhacement request to ask AcuODBC to follow Windows shortcuts?

Who do I contact to ask for an official enhancement request??

Thanks,

Ray Smith

You report this to Tech support, they will determine if it is a bug or not. If it is not you can ask them to raise it as an enhancement request.

Have you tried Windows NTFS "hard links" (if you are using XP or 2003)?

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prkc_fil_baey.asp

(I haven't, but it's possible they might help.)

Thanks JoeD,

Initial tests show that the hardlink works.

I'll do some more testing to see if any other problems are created.

Thanks also to gforseth.
