Hi Everyone,

I've been pouring through the posts here and examining all the wonderful samples that many have posted concerning integrating AcuCobol with Crystal Reports. I too would like to do the same for our in-house package that we wrote here.

However, I am at a stumbling block. We have purchased Crystal Reports 2008 Dev pack and am trying to generate the associated DEF files so I can experiment and learn how to work the integration. However it seems that the dlls libraries are not the same between the versions posted here and the ones I am trying to work with...

Has anyone successfully integrated Crystal Reports 2008 with AcuCOBOL GT? (I am on 7.2 right now). Or simply does anyone know the proper DLLS that I must extract with AXDEFGEN in order to get the DEFs right?

Thanks
Pete in Montreal

Hi,

I attempted to integrate crystal objects into our application and basically gave up

They don't seem to care much for backward compatability as you've already discovered

Hey Shaun,

Thanks for your info.
I've gotten in touch with our sales person over at Microfocus and we'll have a chat about it.. I'll post more after my discussion..

Maybe I can make some headway that can benefit everyone...

Well, after discussing with some people at Microfocus they couldn't give a definate answer about this. So I had to do things the hard way...

According to Crystal Reports web info. they do not have CRAXDRT support anymore which is the Active X runtime and design component. We have to convert to .NET now.. This is for their version 2008 (12) and above...

So it's off to discover how to do this in .NET and see how it can be incorporated into AcuCOBOL GT...

Wish me luck!!!

We'll Peter, seems that Business Object have pulled another cracker.
Previously my experience was that they gave no thought for backward compatibility on the Active X viewer different versions.
Pulling it completely just takes them to a whole new level.

Good Luck!

Guys,

Just to give you an update... What we ended up doing is purchasing a 3rd party product called "EasyView3" to interface from AcuCobol to our Crystal Report.

The Easy View product is a command line product which we connect to through the C$SYSTEM command. we build our command line on the fly and pass control over to Easy View that way. Works like a charm and works with the latest version of Crystal Reports.

This in conjunction with AcuXDBC for access to our Vision Files.. Works like a charm for us...

:)

I tried Visual CUT it is command line product also and you can scheduled reports, email the reports as attachment, etc, etc, too many features to describe it.
It works through "C$SYSTEM"
