How many ways to hand cobol files with delphi are there? as far as i know i can use ODBC but im trying to not need that dependency from ODBC.
Can someone tell me if there is more ways to do it?
Thanks very much
If you are using Delphi, try downloading the ZeosLib databse connection library. This will allow fast and reliable access to various databse types, including ODBC. While this will work, it will be slow and perhaps buggy.
The other approach would be to ineherit TDataSet so that it can read Vision files using the I$IO routine. I looked at this several months back and was able to rig up a reader that worked in this way. It was far from complete however.
By far though, the easiesy way would be to move off of Vision to a SQL database (4GL will do the trick), then you can have freem to mix/match various client technologies.
