Well, I have encrypted all of my files by mistake.
Last week I had to do a rebuild on all of my files. So I have written a rebuild.bat.
A little while ago I wanted to do an extract ... and I realize that all is encrypted !!!

In fact, if I read my rebuild.bat, I see the command line :
Vutil32 -r -a ce *.* (I don't know why I have added the 'e' for encryption ? )

So all is encrypted know ... and my application works well but I can't extract my files !

Does someone have already been surprised ?

Is there a solution ?

If not ( for acucorp )... it might be interresting not allow to read an encrypted file if not specified in the select clause so that the next time I will realize immediately running my application.
Or not allow auto-replace file option if source file is not encrypted and option is asked ...

Now It is to late to restore my files,
I can't unload or extract my file (not allowed by encryption)
... but I can use ALFRED ....

An idea ? In any case ... be carefull when doing a rebuild

THANK YOU

PS : I have 500 files encrypted ... so I have not the time to write 500 programs... may be there is a solution with the XFD ? (reading and writing in an other file mapped by xfd ? )

I have never tried the I$IO library routine with an encrypted file, but check out the walter.cbl sample on the acucorp sample code page.
http://www.acucorp.com/support/public/sample_programs/files/walter.zip

It demonstrates how to use the I$IO library routine for file io with any of the file systems or databases supported by Acucobol. If you take the time, you can also figure out how to parse the XFD file and then you can easily figure out field offsets. Not that difficult, basically it contains section headers and comma-delimted
fields.

On a side note it would be nice for Acucorp to release the Alfred source, unless there is something secret in there we shouldn't see.

Thank you for your help ... but I have not the time ( with my 500 Files ) ...
Never mind ... my customer database is lost ...

May be Acucorp will think about my problem wich could happen to everyone ..
