i would like to invoke a cobol-program which resides on the unix-platforn from .net via ThinClient...

has anyone done this before ...

This will depend on if you are writing the .Net application or not. Consider using C$Socket in COBOL and sockets from .Net. The .Net app sends information down the socket, the COBOL program running on Unix reads data from the socket and sends information back to the .Net application.
