We have been using the Mapiland application to generate emails for several years. In our testing for operations under Acu 8.12 and Windows/7, Mapiland is no longer functioning. Has anyone else run into this issue? You can also reply directly to me at davidp@mekos.com.

Thank you.

Could it be a UAC (user account control) or other security issue with Windows 7?

That was our initial suspicion. However, we have also run our application as administrator with the same results. Registering the DLL goes through without any errors.

It goes through the same steps as under XP. With XP the user usually gets an Outlook message asking whether it is okay to put the email into the outbox. That does happen under Windows/7, but the email doesn't show up in outbox or sent folders. We are testing with Outlook/2003 and direct Outlook emails work fine.

Just to be sure, I would suggest turning off UAC to see if that resolves it. I've still seen issues even when the application is run "as administrator".

I don't have experience with Mapiland, so I can't offer any suggestions related to that.

We have turned off UAC but it still behaves the same.

Do you email from your Acucobol application? If so, what kind of interface are you making use of?

I believe I read somewhere, sometime, that msmapi32.dll is not provided with Windows 7. If mapiland is depending on this, this may be the reason.
Alternatively, if it is plain sockets, see if the application is allowed access through the firewall in Windows 7.

The msmapi32.dll was provided as part of our Windows/7 system. It is located in "program files/common files/system/1033". Interestingly, it has a date of November 2007, the same as the DLL on my XP system. I have still not heard from any other Acuobol users who have actually used the Mapiland product. In lieu of that, if any Forum users are emailing from their Acucobol application, we will be interested in learning how
you are doing so.

We provide e-mail capability in 2 ways. One is via a command line interface (such as BLAT) and the other is a direct interface to Outlook. We use COM to automate Outlook and Redemption. (http://www.dimastr.com/redemption)

We will download and take a look today. Are you operating it on both XP and Windows/7 with and without MS Exchange Server?

The redemption portion we are using is very new to our code, but as far as I know, it all works on XP, Vista, W7, etc. with and without Exchange.
