Good Days,

in runtimes 5.2 and 6.2, Wich maximun file size can manage? there is some limitation like 1 Gb per file?

Yes, the file size depends on the Vision version that you are using.

Vision version 3 (original version)
This version stores data in indivdual files which have maximum file size of almost 2Gb (some overhead for file header)

Vision version 4 (version 4.x[?] of the runtime onwards)
This version stores data in multiple file segments that each have a maximum file size of almost 2Gb. The total size of all the segments for one (logical) file is only limited by your disk size (realistically). Version 4 stores index information separately to the data in '.vix' files. Depending on your indexes, it is possible for the total size of the 'vix' segments to exceed the total size of the data segments.

Vision version 5 (version 6.x of the runtime onwards)
This version saw the return to the single file structure (similar to version 3) but with no limit on file size except the free disk space.

Note that you can have a mix of Vision versions among your data files. The default version for creating files is defined by the configuration variable 'V_VERSION', but you can set individual file creation versions using a configuration variable for each file, of the form 'filename_VERSION'.

E.g. You might have 'V_VERSION 3' in your configuration file along with 'ABCD_VERSION 4' to allow the ABCD.DAT file to be created as a Vision version 4 file (along with it's associated ABCD.vix file).

Note: These settings will not change the version of any existing files. You need to rebuild the file using 'vutil' to change it's vision version (vutil -rebuild -4 ABCD.DAT). Make sure you set the 'filename_VERSION' configuration after doing this, though, otherwise the file may be re-created later as a version 3 file.

There are some performance differences between version 3 and 4 (only one I've tested), but as the old saying goes "your milage may vary", so it is best to set up some benchmark tests and try the different version you will be using in your own environment.
