I have 2 programs :

1. A Program with a screen
2. A program that read's and writes Data

Program 1 has repeated call's to program 2 to read and write
data

Program 2 only gets cancelled when Program 1 exits.

Now and again I get a runtime error message

PROGRAM_NAME: Program already in use
cobol error at 41324a

What does this error mean, I cannot find an explanation
anywhere in the 6.1 help files

PS : there is no recursion happening anywhere

Hi,

I am not using threads at all, just straight calls

eg CALL "PDEMPRD1" using Linkarea emprec1.

This program reads and updates a Vision Indexed File,

Could it be that the file stays open the whole time !

It may not be designated recursion, but I suspect you may be subject to inadvertently recursion, that is what it sounds like.
