I am presently evaluating AcuCobol 5.2.0.1 in a Redhat 8.0 environment utilizing the GNOME desktop. I am using Launcher to run a script in TERMINAL. I am trying to ascertain what functions are available to the AcuCobol runtime from within this environment. The following is a list of items with which I have had some success:
1) Menubars work
2) Function Keys work
3) Color works

I have also had some results in this arena that are less than perfect and I am trying to see if anyone has already come up with a work around or found a solution. First, I want to say that I am not stuck on the GNOME desktop. I am simply looking for an OS and a graphical desktop in order to minimize program changes. The programs we are looking to convert to a new environment use character based screens, use color, utilize menubars, and use the mouse.

Through changes to the A_termcap file I have been able to get single mouse clicks within the menubar areas to function as expected. The only issue I have with the menubars is that the colors that distinguish between enabled items and disabled items is not as clearly delineated as I would like to see. I would like to know what, if anything, within A_Termcap file controls said colors.

Also, I have been unsuccessful in getting mouse double-clicks to function.

Another issue that I ran into is that the background does not stay painted with the background default color blue. Our color schemes use a blue background but what I am running into is that anywhere on the screen where fields are not defined the background is white. This simply makes for an unappealing visual layout.
