Hi,

Currently we have a large customer on 7.2 unix thin client.

We're planning on upgrading them to V8.0 mid February.

OK, so I know its possible to have both 7.2 & 8.0 running on the same machine on different ports.

But, is it safe to do so.

i.e. 1 machine running 7.2 and writing/locking records and anther machine running 8.0 writing and possible locking the same records?

    As long as both use the same vision version, I see no problem doing this. File locking is at the very core managed by the OS anyway.

    They will both be using the same vision version, so looks like I'll be OK then.

    The end user just wants to put a few users onto version 8.0 initially for testing - just a day really.
