Is there a winhelp equivalent that will honor a linux path such that the help file can reside on the server without Samba?

Unless explicitely set up in the network, the client machine have no way of seeing the server file. You would have to copy it locally or put it in a shared folder and use it from the client machine.

Probably best with a local copy.
