The ACUCOBOL-GT runtime can manage different character sets other than the common Western European.

Problem:

Is it possible to use different character sets other than Western European in a COBOL graphical environment?

Resolution:

Yes, the ACUCOBOL-GT runtime enables you to change the locale of an application at runtime.

When changing the character set, it is possible to accept and write into a Vision file characters that belong to different languages, such as Russian (Cyrillic), Greek, Turkish, Arabic and Hebrew. The attached program shows how to do this.
