Hi there, I am having a problem printing symbols (windows font wingdings 2 - character set 3) for check boxes and radio buttons.  The symbol prints fine but then nothing else on the page prints.  We only experience the problem when printing from a machine running Windows 10, 7 & 8 work fine.  The other thing is that if I display a message box after setting the font as above, before writing the symbol away to the print file and setting the font back, then it works. Has anyone else experienced this?  What can I do to fix it? Thanks in advance. NM#AcuCobol#Windows10#WINPRINT#-PSpooler

We have one client location that is having infrequent File Error 93 issues.  The error has happened with two different files.  Both are Vision files.  They are running a small network of Windows 10 and Windows 7 computers.  The files are hosted on a Windows 10 computer.  They are using the extend 9.2.2 ECN-4266 runtime.  The errors occur when they get busy/active.  However, it doesn't always happen when they are busy.  I've included the SELECT and FD for both files.  One has a variable length record.  The other is "normal".  They are opening, reading from, writing to, and closing other files (Vision, binary, and line sequential) on the same network drive share. ********************************** SELECT PAX-SIG-FL ASSIGN TO RANDOM "PAXSIGFL"    WITH COMPRESSION    ORGANIZATION IS INDEXED    ACCESS MODE IS DYNAMIC    RECORD KEY IS PAX-SIG-KEY. Using Thin Client I want to get the Windows users name and computer name from the client side, I am getting the user name and computer name from the server, I know I can get information using dll's such as Kernel GDI32 this particular dll is ADVAPI32.DLL and then I am calling GetUserNameA,  GetComputerNameA this works just file if the connection is a mapped drive to the server. I used one of the sample programs GETUSERNAMEANDOS.cbl to get the logic and into one of our standard programs. I have been able to get the other information from the kernel.dll in thin client but not the ADVAPI32.DLL, any ideas?

We would like to introduce "replication" process to our databases built in MSSQL version of 2008 R2.  We use ACU4GL to handle our I/O operation. Our ACUCOBOL run time varies but minimum 9.2.0 ECN-GL524. The first step of the replication implementation is to add “Globally Unique Identifier – GUID” to each table. GUID column has its own datatype and cannot be changed to another datatype. These GUID columns are not referenced by COBOL (ie. FDs don’t have them hence XFDs don’t have them either). We expect that COBOL/ACU4GL will disregard them like A4GLIDENITY column. However, we get an error “unknown datatype for column xx: GUID (-11)” and program abends with 9D, 23 (where xx is the column number of GUID column added). I was wondering anyone in Micro Focus community had similar issue with GUID datatype and how you have overcome this issue? #Acu4GL

Has anyone created a method of calling SSRS RDL from within AcuCobol?

How can i detect within a cobol program on a Windows PC if there is running a 32bit outlook/excel/word or a 64bit version is running? If it is possible a solution in cobol. Thanks in advance.#extend

Hi all, I'm gone to migrate Solaris 10 update 11/6 for SPARC to other SERVER sparc, it's mandatory to add some kernel patches to support new HW. I know this version is also certified for general Solaris 10, but I haven't found anything about compatibilty ACUCOBOL-GT 7.1.2 and Solaris 10 update xxx.

Hello, I am working on several programs that call each other and I am having an issue with an ACCEPT in one program locking up the next program called. I am running Acu runtime 10.0.1 and working in AcuBench. This issue only happens when running in the Thin Client/AcuConnect environment and in Non Debug mode. So if I run this in debug mode in Thin Client/AcuConnect, it works fine. Go Figure. I have a program that have a series of fields on the screen that the user can default to a specific value. So each control is skipped but another program is called that displays a list box of data that the user can select. If all fields are defaulted in program 1, program 2 locks up on the display command that displays the graphical window. We put several DISPLAY MESSAGE BOX commands in the code to figure this out. I have a feeling this has something to do with setting focus on an object in program 1 and not issuing an ACCEPT command before calling program 2. So how do I terminate the ACCEPT comma

Using multiple monitors MF have provided a patch for run time 10.0.1  (4431) to get this work properly, you can start the parent window in monitor 1 and shift it to monitor 2 or 3 etc, and the child windows will populate in those monitors as long as the Display floating window has and absolute line and column or screen line screen column control, line  or column  added. Our applications do not use these controls, when the child is opened it is centered on the parent window. so when we would move the parent window to a 2nd or 3rd monitor our child windows would always open in Monitor 1. We have 1500 screen programs and this would have been a huge maintenance nightmare, so I reported this to Micro Focus they sent me a new patch for this (4433). Now all is well wherever you move the Parent window all child windows appear with the Parent window. Another request from our customers is to have the last location remembered so when the Parent window is launched the next time it w

I am wondering if there is anyone on this forum that knows how to start an AcuCobol program automatically in the 2nd or 3rd monitor, I have customers asking for this ability?#AcuCobolruntime

We have an automated process which runs in the background processing files (using Extend 9.1 on Windows).  As each file is processed, many Vision version 5 files are accessed, and many Cobol programs called from an object library (called OMICS7). After approximately 6500 files are processed, the runtime crashes with a file error 94,10 - which indicates the session is out of file handles.  The customer is running on Windows Server 2008, but the same behaviour exists on Windows 10 Pro. We use a config file for the runtime, and the exact same behaviour occurs when MAX-FILES is set to 256, and when set to 16000. Using a Process Manager to monitor file handles, when the file error 94 is raised, we see many (approx 2000) file handles open for the object library (OMICS7).  Curiously, we do not see these file handles earlier in the process, when only 3000 files have been processed, for example. We've examined the Cobol code in depth and are satisifed that programs are being

I use C$XML on Extend 10.0.1 and the  CALL "C$XML" USING  CXML-WRITE-FILE  XML-HANDLE H23-BESTAND is not coming to a end. Just after starting the statement on the screen appears the text "Using NATIONAL data requires ICU libraries". The xml output shall be large. The same process in a other general ledger gives no problems. I have kill the wrun32 and the xml output is a file with about 1100 records. It should be a file with more then 200.000 records. Who has a idee? Regards Jaap

Problem: The application is deployed by including copies of the ACUCOBOL-GT directories rather than running the ACUCOBOL-GT installer.  With version 10.1.0, when deploying this way, the AcuServer, AcuConnect, and AcuToWeb Control Panels do not work.  When trying to add or start a new service there is an error "The system cannot find the file specified".  Resolution: Beginning in version 10.1.0 the three control panels depend on a registry entry to tell the service where to find the executable.  When deploying  a copy of the ACUCOBOL-GT installation directories you must ensure that the registry entry is added.  This will enable the Control Panels for AcuServer, AcuConnect, and AcuToWeb to function normally. Here's what to do (assuming 64-bit OS): 1. Create the key: For 32-bit products: HKLM\\Software\\Wow6432Node\\Micro Focus\\ACUCOBOL-GT\\10.1.0 For 64-bit products: HKLM\\Software\\Micro Focus\\ACUCOBOL-GT\\10.1.0 2. Add a REG_SZ item named I

We're trying to call the following C function from COBOL: unsigned int MagickSetResolution( MagickWand *wand, const double x_resolution, const double y_resolution ); This function is part of the GraphicsMagick Wand API. The problem is in the 'double' parameters. It's not possible to CALL using a variable declared as USAGE IS DOUBLE, this gives the following compiler error: BY VALUE parameter WWK-RES-X illegal type We tried a variety of different options, including PIC X(8) COMP-N, but nothing seems to work. Is calling this function even possible? N.B. we're using the 32 bit runtime.

I am a long time Cobol programmer but new to MicoFocus.  I am trying to get a report to print 176 characters on letter paper (16 cpi) without bypassing the windows print driver.  I have looked through the documentation but I just can not get it to work.#ACUCOBOL10.0.1printing

Problem: When attempting to start AcuServer version 9.2 on a Linux server there is an error message "unable to add users" and it fails to start. Solution: The "unable to add users" message is actually coming from AcuShare (the license and shared memory manager).  This means Acushare is not running properly.  Do the following to get it back to normal; once AcuShare is running normally AcuServer will start. Execute "acushare" (no option).  If that responds with the usual acushare report then it is running so do "acushare -kill". Execute "ps -ef | grep acushare" to make sure the acushare process has terminated.  If it hasn't then do "kill -9" on the AcuShare PID. Execute "acushare -clean". Execute "acushare -start". Lastly, start AcuServer.
