Performance issue after update from Trend Micro

Problem:

Trend Micro released an update to their anti-virus program which caused a serious performance issue when accessing vision data files.  

Resolution:

It is unknown if there is a method to not have Trend Micro scan vision files.  To date the only proven resolution used was to uninstall Trend Micro.
