I was curious if others are running into printing problems with recent Windows 11 updates (at least I suspect that is the cause).  We have had about 5-6 customers report this problem starting 6 weeks ago. When they print from our software running AcuCobol-GT Windows Runtime, they get a pop-up box from saying "please wait for printer connection or cancel connection". Some are reporting it eventually after waiting will move on and print. Others have said they have to click Cancel once or twice to get it to move on. Yesterday, we had one that says sometimes it will not print at all. We are wondering if it has something to do with this new "Windows Protected Print Mode" that is showing up when you look at printers under Windows Settings as this seems to be something new Microsoft is doing. Our main problem with these clients is that all of they claim that it ONLY does this in our software running AcuCobol-GT, and that they can print other things such as emails, websites, out of Office, etc. and do NOT receive this pop-up.  We have seen it on both USB connected printers to a PC as well as network printers with an Ethernet connection.

We have had similar issues in our office with computers not seeing the printers.  The printers all had that Windows Protected Print Mode icon next to them even though we never turned it on.  We ended up removing the printer and re-adding it then things print normally.  We have not investigated it further at this point though.

Thanks Scott for your reply.  The first report I got, I did try helping the user delete and re-add his printer (his was USB) and it did not help and we ended up wasting all kinds of time on it without any success, so I have not bothered since then. But maybe I need to try that on another one. But I agree, no one has asked for that or seems to know anything about it, even a couple of IT guys that called me. I only read about what it is supposed to do searching on-line.
