I have Visual COBOL Personal edition, but it ran out this week. As the other posting about that, I re-registered and tried to install it, but I couldn't do it. As the error message, I uninstalled prior Visual COBOL and tried to re-install it, but it doesn't work. I need help because my class use this version, and I have to study with it for 4 months. Hi! I found a Bug in Visual Cobol 2.3 Update 2: Open a Project, then right Mouse and Properties.. Klick on in German "Einstellungen" (The last Point...) There you can unpdate insert etc. your own Variable... If you will Change the Name, on the first Time Visual Studio will go down... On the next Time is is on every klick (Change the Name or insert or what ever) in comming everytime the Message: After any Chage Visual Studio is going down... I hop you can fix this... Problem: When attempting to access a multi-dimensional table outside of its subscript range, a “subscript out of range” error is not always generated at runtime. Given an array M_TABLE: 01    M_TABLE OCCURS 8. 02   D-TABLE OCCURS 8.        03   TABLE_DATA   PIC X(5). Hi, what is wrong?  I've been using visual cobol on windows 10 for ages and using the debugger. Suddenly breakpoints are ignored. This is really frustrating as I can't release a fix to a client without fully testing.  It just will not stop on any breakpoints, even on the first line of programs. I'm running Exe, gnt, idy files. On the top menus '>Start' has [DEBUG] selected.  My main exe is 'Ad_Booker.exe' and it's 'DEBUG' tab has 'start external program '.... \\DEBUG\\Ad_Booker.exe'. The ad_booker.cbl program just runs another program called 'DMENU03A' as below and that program has a break on the first line - everything is compiled to gnt/idy as it always has been and the gnt/idy for the first program definitely exists in the DEBUG folder and i have tried emptying DEBUG and rebuilding the whole solution. I have tried breakpoints on other bits of cobol code - nothing works, the programs just run without stoppi

In native COBOL since at least Net Express 3.0 through VC 2.3.2, the first two calls to CBL_DIR_SCAN_READ after a call to CBL_DIR_SCAN_START will return file names "." and ".." respectively. In VC 2.3.2 managed COBOL these two "file names" don't seem to get returned. Am I seeing the correct (and permanent) managed COBOL behavior? Don't get me wrong, this isn't a complaint or issue. I just want confirmation because if true then I can remove the IF test for these from my code.

Problem: New VISION indexed files created with ACUCOBOL-GT runtimes 10.0.0 and 10.0.1 cannot be opened nor read by runtimes of a previous version.When an OPEN is executed, the file status returned is 39,01. Resolution: File status 39 means that there is a conflict between the indexed file and the COBOL description of the file itself, used to execute the OPEN statement.The secondary error code 01 means that the cause of the mismatch is unkwnown to the runtime, since the status is returned by the host file system. The first action to take is to check the version of this VISION file, using the vutil tool provided within the installation of the ACU runtime.For example, use the following command-line: vutil32 -info -x NameOfTheFile If vutil returns "Incorrect file type", it may be useful to try with the vutil tool of the same version of the runtime that generated the file, for example 10.0.0 or 10.0.1. Hello, I am trying to compile existing Server Express cobol code in Visual Cobol Development hub on Solaris platform. Having issues during compilation. 1. Syntax error. GIVING not allowed. Problem: Although there were no compile and link errors, the build failed and displayed the following error message in the Output window: Error 5487 Failed to write the updated manifest to the resource of file "obj\\x86\\Release\\Program1.exe" Resolution: This issue is caused by some antivirus software that prevents the .exe or .dll files to be created on the machine, so the solution has to be addressed with the vendor. In the meantime, the workaround is to disable the antivirus software during program build or to configure your antivirus software to exclude your project folder and its subfolders from its scan.

Problem imtkmake -genwsdl generates code for the first endpoint, how can you make use of the second endpoint? Problem Compiling the proxy with SIGN(EBCDIC) directive, causes a return code returned by the proxy of 2000 instead of 0. The problem is linked with xs:integer definition in the WSDL file that generate S9(18) COBOL data definition.If the SIGN(EBCDIC) is set, the content of the input S9(18) COBOL variables generate this SOAP Issue. Resolution Currently the generated client proxy must be SIGN(ASCII). SIGN(EBCDIC) is not supported for imtkmake webservices.

I want to use the save-as dialog of the web-browser control passing the right path and I'm doing it as described in the guideline: SetFILE-NAMEto the path of a file to be used with the Save As operation. The value of theFILE-NAMEproperty is cleared after the Save As operation is complete. So I tried: modify my-web-browser save-as=1 filename="g:\\temp\\my-foto.jpg". But the dialog always starts in the last accessed folder and there is no infuence on the file-name neither. Is there a solution to this problem ?

I have just recently downloaded visual studio 2015 and visual cobol. when I try to create a project it gives me the following error - the cobol checker currently installed does not match the cobol CodeDOM. please install the latest checker fixpack. I have googled  for information on the CodeDOM and the checker fixpack and cannot find anything. Can you help me with the resolution to this problem? Thanks - John

Problem: Working on Windows 10, the default printer is changed when the application closes and the runtime is shut down. For example: the default printer is set to PRINTER1. The COBOL program sends a print to PRINTER2.After the run, PRINTER2 becomes the new default printer. This never happens on Windows 7, where the system settings remain unaltered. Resolution: This appears to be a "new feature" of Windows 10, rather than an issue within the ACUCOBOL-GT runtime. I feel silly asking this but I think I remember seeing a current Micro focus document or manual (.pdf) referenced somewhere in Community or SupportLine via a link that described and gave examples of which COBOL elements in native programs and link libraries needed to be changed in converting to managed COBOL. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I've run numerous searches in both sites, but no success. I HAVE found "Object-Oriented Programming for COBOL Developers" (.pdf,2015) but this is not what I think I remember seeing as it is object-oriented in general and not specifically for managed COBOL. The pseudo-title stuck in my head is something like "Converting Native to Managed COBOL". Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

We are migrating Workbench 4.3 COBOL to Visual COBOL 2.3 using Native Project. The programs have been in production since 2001. We are using the Sybase precompiler COBSQL/COBPRE and have the database connection information in SQL.INI file.  I successfully tested connection to Sybase with ISQL command including a table selection. However VC does not seem to identify the use of SQL.INI for connection. I am thinking this is a configuration issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The program uses the following syntax. Hello, We are in the context of Oracle to PostgreSQL migration testing, we are in the process to realise a POC with Cobol progs accessing PostgreSQL; We currently use Oracle's unix precompiler , does it exist an equivalent  precompiler for PostgreSQL or do we have to use ODBC precompiler ? thanks for my   beginner's  question !
