We’re having some strange performance issues when querying alpha columns. Even if it is key field it is much slower than when comparing numeric data. The below table illustrates what we’re seeing. I realise you’ll be unfamiliar with the schema but was trying to show introducing an alpha query to the WHERE clause really slows things down. The OrderNo is the Primary Key for the table. Is there anything that can be done to address this? Either in the configuration or recommendation in the way we query Relativity? Query Execution Time (Seconds) select orderno from [CCSI_CCSIFW].[ccsifw]..opheader where orderno = 'A300001' 20 select orderno from [CCSI_CCSIFW].[ccsifw]..opheader where BillTo = 5393 and shipTo = 5394 and Salesm
Migrating Workbench 4.x to VC2.3. Created Native project with precompiler COBSQL for Sybase 12.5 imbedded SQL. Using EXEC SQL CONNECT statement for database connection however VC is not recognizing SQL.INI file to make connection. Sybase Open Client is working properly as I tested with command isql -v. Returns proper version info. Also using isql to select table data. I am assuming this is a VC 2.3 configuration issue however I have not found a solution. Thanks for any discussion.#COBOLSQLCOBSQL#Sybase#connection#COBOLVISUALCOBOLMIGRATION
I would like to ask for help with creating an XML document, please. Basically, I need to "wrap" an existing message with XML. Here is an example of what a complete message needs to look like. <AutoBOD> <AutoBOD xmlns="schemas.oxlo.com/.../SendFordFile"> <Routing> <SenderId>999X9999</SenderId> <DestinationId>FM</DestinationId> </Routing>
<SendFordFile> <Detail> 1HDR-91378-465-81A378-COMBAT -KA-00000000-6.00-FS -OXLHUB ENDFAS070101271378ACME AUTOMOTIVE 32154 BENTFORTH ROAD ALMA CO80020000091378^> 0001000036759 > 0002000002100 > 0003000006319 > 0004000001500 > 0005000000100 > 0006000000100 > 0007000000000 > 0008000106060 > 7967000000025 > 7968000000075 > 7969000000125 > 7970000000021 > 7975000002434 > 1EOF-FS11010602-03064-292143333-465- </Detail> <FileName>O1125328.F465</FileName> </SendFordFile>
<
Hello, please when I try to do this: call "CBL_DIR_SCAN_START" using by reference handle pattern by value search-attribute flags returning search-status end-call I got error 173 - Called program not found I got this message on environment where I have Net Express 3.1. On the other one, where I have Net Express 5.1 everything work fine.#COBOL
Hello, I upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7, also I upgrade my Net Express 5.0 to 5.1, with WrapPack #06 #07 #08,, I’ve used RETAIN to keep my License. When the upgrades completed the product is licensed to the correct person and correct company, but Serial Number and Works Order Number not shown, they're “BLANK”. In the License Management System Configuration the License status = Net Express Full license. Next day I surprised the license is corrupted, I check the License Management System Configuration I found the license is not setup correctly, when I close the License Management System Configuration and I go back to Net Express I found the license is OK, and in the License Management System Configuration status = Full license. I don’t know what causes this error and I’m afraid it may occur again, anyone can help.
Hi, i have this in c#: DataGrid grid = sender as DataGrid; DataGridRow selectedRow = grid.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(grid.SelectedItem) as DataGridRow; selectedRow.FontWeight = FontWeights.Bold; What is this in Visual Cobol Code? Best Regards Bernd
Using an arithmetic statement with a variable of type decimal generates an error message ‘error COBCH0034 : Operand DECVALUE3 should be numeric’. Using the MOVE statement does not generate an error. I can do arithmetic operations using the SET statement but it would be easier using arithmetic statements when converting existing Cobol programs.
In Visual Studio 2013 (Version 12.0.40629.00 Update 5) editor, with [Micro Focus COBOL] Tabs set to 4 & 4 and Insert spaces on .... ... you can highlight a block of code (that let's say starts in column 12) and hit the tab key to indent it, and it will move it to column 16 ... which is the expected / desired result. However, if you hold down on shift and hit the tab key to Unindent it, it moves it back to position 13, not back to the expected / desired position 12. It appears that this only happens if the "block" consists of more than one line. If it is just one line, it handles it correctly. Thanks.
Hello, please I am using commnad CALL "SYSTEM" USING W-CMD-LINE where in W-CMD-LINE is for example DIR commnad Is there any possibility to get return value from CALL "SYSTEM" ? To get DIR command output directly to COBOL? Now I have to do: 'DIR > out.txt' and then read this file in my program.#COBOL
Hello!! Visual cobol shows me this error when I click PLAY to see what I have programmed. I would appreciate some help.. I add an image capture under this text, thanks a lot!! #debugvisualcoboltarget
Hello, in Micro Focus COBOL I am creating a text file. File is defined like this: select bankd-file assign to f-bankd-file file status is wx-fstat organization sequential. fd bankd-file. **************** 01 bankd-rec pic x(01). After that I do standard open output bankd-file and write Is there any possibility to setup code page for file? It's created in utf8 (I think by default) but I importing this file to environment which needs this file in cp1251. Or is there some easy way to convert file encoding? I can't use any third party solution. It must all be done in COBOL (or some Windows system command line routine). Thanks for any help.#COBOL
Problem: Using ACUCOBOL-GT Runtime version 10.0.1 a thin black bar is seen on the right edge of some screens. Resolution: The issue has been identified as mishandling of the decimal portion of the screen size parameter and is in Development's queue for resolution. In the meantime the workaround is to use integer values for the screen size.
I use v10.0.0 AcuCobol call "C$XML" using CXML-ADD-ATTRIBUTE element-handleattribute-nameattribute-valueattribute-value-length.attribute-value is spacesattribute-value-length = 0 The attribute value will have the previous attribute value. Is this a bug in AcuCobol 10.0.0? When attribute-value-length is set to 1 attribute-name = " " will occur in the xml file.
When we have assigned the print file to PRINTER? and have had our LPX1 in the DEFINE-DEVICE with LPX1 and port info it prints to the printer if that is our default printer. However we get dialog errors that it has failed and been suppressed because BIS suppresses the dialog box.
we are trying to print directly from a BIS service program to a specific windows network printer.
There are 2 new Visual COBOL for Eclipse videos available on YouTube, related to creating Web Services from new or existing COBOL programs. The first demonstrates how to create a SOAP Web Service, and the second does the same for a RESTful Web Service. These have been added to the Micro Focus Support and Training channel on YouTube. Here are direct links to the new videos : Using Visual COBOL for Eclipse to Create SOAP Web Services Using Visual COBOL for Eclipse to Create REST Web Services#VisualCOBOL#REST#Eclipse#SOAP#webservice

I am trying to do math in my sql commands and would like to always get back 2 decimal place results that are rounded. In regular SQL I can do a cast(a * b, as money) and that will give me what I need. I have tried using convert(a * b, sql_decimal) but this will always return the number of decimal places based on the result of what a * b is. How can I force rounded 2 decimal places? I have tried to use sql_float but to no avail. #relativityrounding

Hi, I've Netexpress VER 5.105.0076 installed on Pc running Windows XP service pack 3. I'm planning to: Upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7. Upgrade Netexpress ver 5.105.0076 to 5.1 ver 5.108.0030 I need to RETAIN Netexpress ver 5.0 from my pc to keep the license, but to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 cannot be done according to Microsoft rules. Therefore I have 2 methods to do that: Method 1 : Using Windows Easy Transfer for XP to transfer settings and others from Windows XP to Windows 7 Install New Fresh Windows 7 ((formatting the HDD)) Use Windows7 Easy Transfer to get that settings and others, here Netexpress 5.0 license should be within these settings !!?? Method 2 : Upgrade from Windows XP to Vista Upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Then I will install the following: NXP325.106.0079.exe ((Wrappack 6)): the complete installation NXP325.107.0047.msp ((Wrappack 7)): to update the previous in
Hi , What are the compiler directives to create a .dll for the single program ? ( My code is a managed code , also unlike Native code we donot have option to create multiple executable in Managed code ) I could set gnt and int from Tools-->Opions-->Micro Focus-->Directives-->Single file compile. Also How do i set this from Visual Cobol Command prompt if i have to do a Bulk Compilation of programs. Regards, Zoeb
In Visual Studio 2013, Visual COBOL 2.2. ... When you have Managed WinForms Program A invoking Managed WinForms Program B, and both are in variable source format as shown by the VS editor when editing each individually... and you are running in Debugging mode... when A invokes B and you are transitioned over to B... it appears in the old fixed Source format, with the right margin area greyed out... Thanks.
We are having a problem that I would like to hear if one of you have a solution for . We are running thin client, 9.2.1 and we have a Menu system which starts threads of subprograms. When these subprograms reads a record which is locked we normally call C$sleep and read again after a few ticks. But unfortunately this behavior makes the focus of the window change to another subprogram. These is of course done because windows concludes that the subprogram with the sleep does not need ressources right now, and it would be a good idea to bring anoher program in focus. We have stopped using the c$sleep and calls a while loop, and it is functioning very well, but unfortunately this behavior uses a lot of CPU etc. Do you see any other possibilities ? (we have also tried accept upon time, but this brings the program in focus, also if the user has switched the program in background)
The following code generated the CRLF and FFLF correctly as 2 bytes. However the TAB also generated 2 bytes with the first byte being set to <null>... Question is how do I generate a single byte using the technique below or is there another way ? 78 CRLF value x"0D0A". 78 FFLF value x"0C0A". 78 TAB value x"09". Thanks Allen
Is there a way to set specific tabs is Visual Cobol? Such as at 7, 8, 12, and 72. Under Tools/Options/Text editor/Micro focus cobol, the tabs button does not seem to give choices like that.
