Hello, I'm getting a file error: Field ITEM-DEL-LINK-UPC causes duplicate database data This error is due to my using the -Fx option when compiling the program that uses this file, and is due to a key existing inside of another key. My question is, is there an easy way to resolve this issue? We have clients running this software that have data already in this file, and we'd like to avoid a file conversion if at all possible. The FD and Select are as follows: SELECT OPTIONAL ITEM-DEL-FILE ASSIGN TO RANDOM "./inv/itemdelete" WITH COMPRESSION COMPRESSION CONTROL VALUE 70 ORGANIZATION IS INDEXED ACCESS MODE IS
Hello, I'm new to the community and need help. Microfocus cobol'm working under UNIX operating system AIX Version 5 system is multi-user information, the connection to the server is via telnet, the problem I have is with the indexed files will be shared when removed error, as I make the system the archive management handled correctly? I tried to use the command to set the fileshare fs but I think I'm comentiendo an error. I appreciate the collaboration .... thanks
Running Visual COBOL 2.1, Visual Studio 2010 SP1 I have a native COBOL link library project consisting of a single resource file (EMAILRES.RC). I believe this was taken from a Micro Focus email demo. When I build the project I get this error: LINK : fatal error LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt From what I find on Visual Studio forums this was fixed by Service Pack 1 which is already installed. Someone recommended reinstalling SP 1. Any thoughts on this? I noticed that EMAILRES.RES was put into obj\\x86\\debug so it must be a problem with linking. By the way, if an INT/GNT project build finds a .RES file in obj\\x86\\debug you get the same "failed to find file" error as you get when there's an .OBJ file in that directory.#VisualCOBOLautoscalemodescreenresolution
Probably a very simple question, but this is the first time I am trying to generate .Net assemblies or dlls. I use ccbl32 --netexe 2.0 nettest.cbl and the compile goes through with no errors, bur I only get a .acu file, I do not get a .exe file if I use ccbl32 --netdll 2.0 nettest.cbl once again compiles with no errors and I get the .Netmodule and .acu files, but no .dll I am no doubt doing something dumb but I cant see what it is, any suggestions?
Is it possible to get the standard error codes when I$IO fails for some reason? By "standard error codes" i mean those raised by the standard functions write, read key, read next, open, close and so on. For example if try to rewrite a record with I$IO (set rewrite-function to true in I$IO) and the record key is not found i would like to get the error code "23", like with the "rewrite" statement, while F-ERRNO return "4" (E-MODE-CLASH in filesys.def). Does it exist a way to get the code i need?#error-codes#COBOL#IIO
I imported an NX project with 7 programs and no Dialog System screenset. When I build the resulting solution I get this error: Could not copy the file "obj\\x86\\Debug\\AW100" because it was not found. Microsoft.Common.Targets line 3364. We are running Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and Visual COBOL 2.1. The project name is AW100 and includes a program named AW100. It is an INT/GNT project.#VisualCOBOL
A new project requires that I use a web service from a batch client program run every few minutes to retrieve a list of items, and use the same web service from another program called on an ad hoc basis to update items as required. Note: this isn't my web service, it's one provided by an external company. Our environment is AIX. Is there anything that I can use that's as simple as the Netexpress example using the Microsoft SOAP toolkit [1] ? And is there a guide to client SOAP programs for dummies anywhere? In NX3.1 we had to link extsm.obj (in Build Settings>Link>Advanced) for this sort to work: sort sort-file on ascending key srt-endpoint srt-cl-amt srt-kb-amt using tmp-file giving tmp-file. In Visual COBOL, the sort blows up. Do we need to add the extsm.obj into the settings somewhere or is there another answer? Please and Thank You. #extsm.obj#VisualCOBOL#COBOL#VisualStudio
I am starting a program with Acucobol 9.11 and .Net with a product called SonicMQ. I would like to know if anybody out there have done any programs using "net assemblies. I am battling to find out how to use stored objects and the documentation provided is not very helpful I am a COBOL programmer so either way is a new experience - the programmers have said we can use soap. Once again I would love some helpful documentation..
After the import, the imported project directives are listed in the Additional Directives box on the project properties screen. We would also like to add USE"..\\MYDIRECTIVES.DIR" to the list of additional directives. Our Net Express projects don't always have the same directives but there are certain directives we've had to add to our Visual COBOL projects so they will build without errors (for example, REMOVE"OBJECT-REFERENCE") and we list these in MYDIRECTIVES.DIR. Can we do this or will the compiler only use the directives in MYDIRECTIVES.DIR ? We are bringing about 350 projects from NX 5.1 to Visual COBOL and we want to maintain two sets or source, the original, unmodified NX source and the Visual COBOL source which we will modify. In the import wizard, we specified a different directory (from the NX directory) for the Visual COBOL project but the source was not copied to it. Also, each time we use the wizard it creates a solution along with the

The directory hierarchy on the AIX machine that I am using has been set up with a development user containing a 'sources' and a 'copies' directory, with .cbl in one and .cpy in the other.Setting this up as a remote project in VC, I have created a symlink to the 'copies' directory in the 'sources' directory and mapped the project to the 'sources' directory. The copybook paths include the 'copies' directory, which is checked. The 'copies' directory shows up under the project, and if I go into it, I can load the copybooks into the editor. The copybook files are all named in lower case and the names are in quotes. If I "build project", all the copy statements fail "unknown copybook". However, if I open a program file in the editor and right-click on a copybook name and select "Open Copybook", the copybook opens in the editor.I can work round this by putting the copybooks into the 'sources' directory
Dear sir, I have the following problem : Compiling JVMWorldClass1.cbl... [cobol] COBCH0829S Could not find method 'adoaseti' with this signature : C:\\Users\\Pedro\\workspace\\HelloJVMworld\\src\\com\\microfocus\\example\\JVMWorldClass1.cbl(45,14,14)
Scot Nielson said you could do this in the webinar Getting Started with Visual Studio 2010. On the COBOL page of my native project's properties, I am setting Additional Directives to: USE"..\\MYDIRECTIVES.DIR". In MYDIRECTIVES.DIR I am using the COPYPATH directive to point to where the copybooks are and am leaving Copybook Paths in project properties blank. This will make it easy for us the change directives and copybook paths for all projects. Is COPYPATH the correct way to do this ? The documentation on this directive says: "You should only use the COPYPATH directive when compiling using the cobol command line utility, and not when building programs from within the IDE".#VisualCOBOL
Greetings,Overnight, the following message started to appear whenever i do a run.ASLM: Sempahore failure. It is probable that licensing home location is not corrrectly set up.If using ASLMFNET check that it is set to a valid path, otherwise checkthat the location in the registry is valid (run aslmpclocate) and thatthe location exists and has appropriate access permissions.ASLM: Errno 1000I am at loss on what to do! I find there are multiple ways to improve current SupportLine web site: Correct time out issue: When entering a long answer in the incident interface, we often get trapped. Apparently, there is some timout because after clicking on "Submit", we just get back to the incident with no new message. I can't get why there could be some timeout as all the needed information (incident ID, note type and the note itself) is included in the form. Anyway, the longer the answer, the more time we lose answering our incidents Reply via mail: We work with a lot of supplier and you are the only one I know I can't update my tickets by replying to mail. All the other provider I know can sort the mail using the incident ID in the subject. This could be a workaround to the first problem as well Restore suggestion box: When clicking on suggestion box in the SupportLine web site, I get redirected to the forum, to a section that no longer exists. You should definitively do something ab

Hello, i have the next problem with Excel to give a cell a name. Excel Macro looks like this:ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:="David", RefersToR1C1:= _ "='Table 1'!R1C1" I tested several spellings to get it to work and i am atm at this point:modify xls-book @Names::@Add ( "David", "='Table 1'!$A$1" ).This is the only spelling which is accepted from Excel without an Error. But in Excel i get i reference to Cell:='Table 1'!#REF When i set a Range before and use it to set the Cell:inquire xls-sheet @CELLS::@ITEM(1, "A") xls-range.modify xls-book @Names::@Add ("David", xls-range ). Then i get also in Excel the reference to the Cell:='Table 1'#REF When i use the R1C1-Spelling i get a Formula Error from Excel. Can anyone give some advice?
We’re working on a number of areas to help make the move from ACUCOBOL-GT and RM/COBOL over to Visual COBOL as quick and as easy as we can. One area is support for Standard Library routines, sometimes referred to as C$ routines. In Visual COBOL 2.1, we've implemented the following routines across native, JVM and .NET unless stated otherwise: C$CALLEDBY C$CALLERR C$CHDIR C$MAKEDIR C$MEMCPY C$MYFILE C$NARG: Not .NET/JVM C$PARAMSIZE: Not .NET/JVM M$ALLOC M$COPY M$FILL M$FREE M$GET M$PUT WIN$VERSION C$RERRNAME C$COPY C$DELETE C$FILEINFO C$GETLASTFILEOP C$Century C$ConvertAnsiToOem C$ConvertOemToAnsi C$DARG: Not in .NET and Java C$Delay C$GetEnv C$GetNativeCharset C$LogicalAnd C$LogicalComplement C$LogicalOr C$LogicalShiftLeft C$LogicalShiftRight C$LogicalXor C$NARG C$SetEnv C$GetLastFileName DELETE C$RERR SYSTEM RENAME If you have any other routines you commonly use you’d like to see supported in coming releases, please reply to this post or to me d
Hello, i habe a problem to set a FormulaArray in Excel. I get following Error: "Unable to set the FormulaArray property of the Range class." When i search for that error:I get an MS Articel that the error occurs when the Formula is longer then 255 characters. But my Formula is shorter. The Formla written looks like this: (German writing){=Summe(Wenn((G13:G349="Ot")*(H13:H349="Lag");E13:E349))} When i Record the Formula i get this in the MacroEditor:Selection.FormulaArray = _ "=SUM(IF((R[-339]C[2]:R[-3]C[2]=""Ot"")*(R[-339]C[3]:R[-3]C[3]=""Lag""),R[-339]C:R[-3]C))" I build in my program a display that i see the generated Form and it is exact the same as in the Macro generated by Excel. Cobol-Code i use: compute tab-zeile(xls-idx) = tab-zeile(xls-idx) 1. move tab-zeile(x
Hello! Althought I'm a programmer, I'm new to the whole cobol world. So please excuse me if my questions sound stupid. I'm having a hard time finding the documents that I need, because I'm unfamiliar with the terms that are used with Cobol programming. My or rather my employers situation is like this: we essentially have a website that runs on Cobol programs compiled as .exes. These programs are made with .net express 5.1 and we are now trying to migrate to Vsual Cobol, for it's SQL database connector support. So whats bothering me is: Does the visual cobol runtime need MF server installed for it to work Are .net express 5.1 compiled exes compatible with with visual cobol runtime Are the global variables/settings, that affect for example file sharing and file handler, global system (windows/unix) variables or are they in the MF Server or runtime. #VisualCOBOL
[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 24 October 2011]I could verify that all the characteristics of RM/COBOL we use are working fine, except pop-up windows. Normally, we define the structure below: 01 WCB. 03 WCB-HANDLE PIC 999 BINARY VALUE 0. 03 WCB-NUM-FILAS PIC 999 BINARY. 03 WCB-NUM-COLUMNAS PIC 999 BINARY. 03 WCB-POSICION PIC X VALUE "W". 88 WCB-POSICION-RELATIVA-PANTALLA VALUE "S". 88 WCB-POSICION-RELATIVA-VENTANA VALUE "W". 03 WCB-BORDE PIC X VALUE "Y". 88 WCB-BORDER-ON VALUE "Y". 03 WCB-TIPO-BORDE PIC 9. 03 WCB-CARACTER-BORDE PIC X. 03 WCB-RECUBRIR PIC X. 88 WCB-RECUBRIR-ON VALUE "Y". 03 WCB-CARACTER-RECUBRIR PIC X.
We are converting a large admin system to managed Visual COBOL 2.0 from native Net Express 5.0 and have noticed a significant performance decrease in our batch processes. Running the same process on the same PC with the same data, Visual COBOL appears to be up to 4.5 times slower than the natively compiled code. I read in one post that a configuration setting to license manager solved the problem and in a prior incident report switching from comp-3 to comp-2 was a work-around. Are there any performance tuning tips you can send my way?
In VisCOBOL using multiple form programs (.cbl) in a single solution... ...can you tell me please if I open file A in the main form (Form A)...make a call out to another form ( FORM B) in same solution)..is the file I opened in the main form still opened as I opened it to begin with (e.g as I-O or extend etc) or do I have to close it in the main form and re-open it in FORM B in order to continue to work with it?
