I have a hopefully short term need to keep an old unix application which uses PANELS running under Visual COBOL on Windows. I've managed to get the code compiled and running and fixed the function keys etc. using ADIS but no matter what I do I can't get the colours to work, everything comes out black on a green background so it's impossible to see what I'm doing when running the code. Using a simple test program with display statements the colours work fine so it's definitely a panels issue, unfortunately everyone who originally wrote this code has long since eft the company so we have limited knowledge of how panels even works which isn't helping. In case it matters I'm using VC 6.0 and VS 2019. Any suggestions as to where to look greatly appreciated! Regards Gary#VisualCOBOL#panels

Hello, I created a table using Relativty and one column seems to break my queries.  In Relativity's Query Builder, depending of the data I access, it returns a certain number of rows before it tthrows an error, like Table MyTable: Rows Processed = 4, Error Count =1. Querying with another tool (QTODBC), I get an intermittent error, which means that sometimes, it works, sometimes I get the following error: <eb1>Numeric item contains nonnumeric characters (column MyColumn) State: S1000; Native: -4084; Origin: [Micro Focus][Relativity][CRDM]</eb1> The column is defined as a Smallint in Relativity, and as a PIC 9 in Cobol. Side note: The previous field in the table is a COMP and may have some invalid data. Is there a workaround to that error? Thank you!#Relativity

Our many user sites have been using various 32-bit AcuGT runtimes with a variety of 32-bit Windows applications. Among those applications is the Adobe Reader, and recently Adobe is forcing an "upgrade" to their 64-bit version. When our applications attempt to launch Reader the runtime fails and returns a system code 2. (Installing 32-bit Foxit Reader is a good workaround.) But in anticipation Looking to the future three questions:: 1. Can we "correct" our applications to launch 64-bit applications? If not 2. Is the solution to use the 64-bit runtime? If so 3. Will the 64-bit runtime work with the 32-bit Windows applicaions? My hope is that the answer to 1 is Yes. Any guidance will be gratefully appreciated.

Hello, We need to generate Word documents from our Cobol application. I came across XMLDOCX which allows to create xml files and then convert them to docx document. The API is quite extended.  I know that we can generate xml from Cobol. But I don't see how to generate cobol structures from the XML stuctures of the xmldocs api. ODBC Request from C# windows service unable to connect. Running into an issue with a C# application running as a windows service being unable to read from the odbc driver.  When the application is running from Visual Studio it works as expected. I am using a grid box to list files in a directory so one can be selected and copied from pc or unix to pc  or unix.   When getting the files from the unix directory I can not see all of my files.  Is there a limitation on how many items can show in a grid box?

Hi, In Relativity Designer/DBA, I can change the path to the data file supporting each of my table. If all the data files are in the same directory, is it possible to have a dynamic path, like with a environment variable? Or is it possible to modify it in a batch? Thank you! Simon.#Relativity

We use already webservices provided by other applications. Now we have to provide webservices of our own. I know this is not exactly a cobol problem but I would be interested in a case where somebody has provided a webservice using a cobol applications because I'm not sure about the general procedure. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know how to do this. This is not a COMP-3 field. I'm needing to match the file layout the government gave me. All of their amount fields are defined this way. The internet says I need to use USAGE IS DISPLAY. When I look at the field afterwards it is still 12 characters including a sign. Is there something I need to install? Or, a switch I need to set?

I am having an issue where if a date field is blank on the screen, I want to save NULL in my date field in my SQL DB.  How do I do this with Embedded SQL with Visual COBOL?  I've tried passing spaces, but that saves the date as 1900-01-01, I've tried passing 020202, and that saves the date field as 1955-04-25.

Hello,  I've run into an issue regarding the use of pointers in a .net assembly when using Thin Client(version 9.2.4). The code that follows runs fine when local, however through thin client the acuthin executable crashes when running the Marshal.StructureToPtr in the .net code. I'm suspecting this is because the pointer is getting created server side, rather than client side. I did find some documentation regarding calling dlls that use pointers through thin client(7.2.6.3 Passing pointers in DLL calls ), however neither the -Zm compile option or the M$ memory calls seemed to solve the problem. In the windows event viewer I'm seeing acuthin throw a memory access violation. Any help here would be much appreciated. Hi, We have developed a program that takes advantage of the XML and Rmnet extensions, to extract some information from a website by interacting with a SOAP web service.On the Windows operating system, the program (compiled with the -Ze option) works perfectly and was developed with the help of libraries: xmlif.dllrmnet.dll Problems arose when running functioning tests also on Linux system (Red Hat)From the examples in our possession we are instructed to use the libraries: libxmlif.solibrmnet.so But after several attempts, these are not recognized as cobol libraries We also tried setting the variablesSHARED_LIBRARY_LIST e SHARED_LIBRARY_EXTENSION, without any success. I'm getting started with an evaluation version of Relativity and I try to create a new catalog in Designer. I choose File -> Create New Data Source. I select Micro Focus Relativity Data Manager. Then I click the Create Catalog button and select a file name. I'm getting "ASLM: Semaphore failure." error. I've executed ASLMPCLOCATE as instructed but no change. Running Process Monitor shows that it's looking for IDELINK.DLL but I can't find it on my drive. Anybody knows what I'm missing? Thank you!
